Description

Gray Insurance Company is a family-owned casualty carrier based in Metairie, Louisiana, with offices across the Gulf South and business in all 50 states. Gray Specialty / Custom Risk is our excess workers' compensation program. We work with organizations that self-insure their workers' comp and want protection against large or catastrophic claims. Each program is built around the client's own retention and risk profile, so every account is a little different, and that's the part we enjoy.

We're a small, close-knit team. Relationships with our brokers and clients matter here, and so does the way we treat each other.

What You'll Do

  • Build and review new and renewal submissions, including loss history and operations, and learn to decide which accounts fit our program.
  • Help put together quotes and coverage terms, learning to structure retentions and limits around each client's needs.
  • Build relationships with brokers and clients by phone, email, and in person.
  • Travel occasionally to visit brokers, and attend industry events, 2-4 trips a year.
  • Keep accurate files and notes in our operating system, so the team always knows where an account stands.
  • Work closely with other departments.
  • Bring ideas. If you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it.

Who You Are

  • Positive and easy to work with. You build trust quickly with coworkers and brokers.
  • A learner. You ask good questions, take coaching well and want to grow.
  • A self-starter. You don't wait to be told what's next.
  • Dependable and organized. You follow through on details and deadlines.
  • A clear communicator in writing and in conversation.
  • Comfortable with numbers and basic financial information. We'll teach you the rest.

Helpful, But Not Required

  • Experience in insurance, especially workers' compensation, underwriting, claims, or broker/agency work.
  • A bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Progress toward an industry designation such as INS, AU or CPCU. We support continuing education.

Why Gray

  • Hands-on mentorship from one of the most experienced people in the excess workers' comp market
  • A family-owned company where your work is seen and your voice counts
  • A specialty niche with real room to grow
  • Benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, LTD, Life Insurance, Wellness Program
