Unit Care Associate - Full-Time 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM (Emergency Department)
Performs delegated functions as a member of the Emergency Department to provide the following services: STAT requests for specimens and patients, discharge patients to designated areas, transport of patients as needed to dedicated areas. Utilizes the hospital wide computer system for order entry, admission, transfer and discharge functions (EMR). Responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, provides basic care to acutely ill patients. Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. Performs EKG's and Venipuncture, POCT and direct continuous/close Observations of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse. Ensure patients are dressed into hospital attire, clothing and valuables are logged according to policy, patients are placed on CM, NIBP, SPO2 as needed. Scan items into the EMR in a timely manner. Update Sorian in a timely manner. Answer the phones professionally and timely.
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Work requires the ability to read and understand written instruction. CPR certificate must be obtained within the probationary period and maintained throughout employment. Active PCA certificate or PCA experience and EKG certificate and Phlebotomy certificate. If the candidate does not have an active PCA certificate, successful completion of UAP, CNA, EMT, current enrollment in Nursing school and successful completion of Nursing Fundamentals, program prior to completion of the probationary period. Bilingual preferred.
