The unit nurse manager supervises the day-to-day activities on assigned unit. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Under the Direction of the DON, Supervise nursing care provided by the nursing staff and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible
- Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures that govern the day to day functions of the nursing department
- Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of resident care
- Meet with the nursing staff and support staff in planning the department’s services, programs, and activities
- Assist with resident admissions, discharges, and transfers as required
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, care plans, charting, etc., as necessary
- Ensure that a sufficient number of licensed nurses (RN and LPN), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are available for each shift to ensure routine nursing care is provided to meet the daily nursing care needs of each resident
- Provide direct nursing care as needed
