The Universal Banker serves as a key branch resource by combining the responsibilities of both a Personal Banker and Teller to provide a full range of banking services. This role supports customer relationship growth by opening new accounts, assisting with consumer lending needs, recommending appropriate products and services, and processing daily banking transactions. The proportion of Personal Banker and Teller responsibilities varies based on the operational needs of the branch, creating a flexible role that contributes to both customer satisfaction and branch success.
The position plays an essential role in delivering exceptional service while maintaining operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and risk management standards. Through effective relationship management, product promotion, transaction processing, and adherence to bank policies and federal banking regulations, including BSA/AML requirements, the Universal Banker helps protect customer and bank assets while supporting the organization's growth objectives. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education is a plus
- At least one year of retail sales or similar experience; financial services experience preferred
- Demonstrated career growth, initiative, professionalism, and sales success
- Willingness to complete additional training as needed, including in-house or external courses
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to make a positive first impression and connect with customers while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor
- Availability to work retail hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Comfort initiating sales conversations and resilience when facing rejection
- Strong time management, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
