Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has a longstanding reputation for excellence in medical education, research, and patient care, and for training best-in-class health care professionals through cutting-edge procedures and research that improve the health and clinical care of patients. The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty physician to join a well-balanced, multispecialty group of providers.

As part of UC Health, our Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery serves a broad population and is the sole academic health system in the southwestern Ohio region, including patients from northern Kentucky, eastern Indiana, and southern Ohio. University of Cincinnati Medical Center offers Quaternary Care and is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in our region. The Division invites applications for a full-time academic microsurgeon/plastic surgeon with an anticipated start date of Fall 2027.

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has a distinguished history dating back to 1974, when it was founded by Henry W. Neale, MD. The Division celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 and continues to expand under the leadership of Sonu A. Jain, MD, FACS, Division Chief.

The Division is recruiting a talented microsurgeon to join a growing faculty and a collaborative working environment, with interest in serving a multidimensional and underserved patient population. The University of Cincinnati also has a strong and growing Division of Surgical Oncology, and the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is committed to supporting this expanding area, particularly through breast reconstruction. Clinical areas to focus on include:

• Breast reconstruction
• Extremity reconstruction and limb salvage
• Trunk reconstruction

Other areas of Plastic Surgery can be included, depending on faculty interest.

Final faculty rank and title will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will participate in the Division’s academic mission, including:

• Resident and medical student education
• Teaching conferences and didactics
• Ambulatory clinics and operative care
• Opportunities for clinical and translational research

Minimum Requirements

• Medical Degree (MD/DO)
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Plastic Surgery
• Unrestricted licensure in the state of Ohio.
• Completion of a 1-year Microvascular fellowship/training.
