US Commercial Supply Chain Intern
Description
Job Summary
We are currently seeking a US Commercial Supply Chain Intern for Summer 2027. This position works for approximately 37.5 hours per week.
The USSCM Center of Excellence is a business-led transformation function that strengthens supply chain operations through process standardization, analytics, digital enablement, and governance.
This internship offers a well-rounded experience in how a modern pharmaceutical supply chain really works. The intern will spend roughly half their time on an independent, outside-in research capstone that delivers tangible value back to the organization, and the balance embedded with the supply chain teams — learning end-to-end operations, sitting in on the work, and building real business context. The specific capstone will be finalized closer to the start date to reflect current business priorities and the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
Responsibilities
Conduct structured research using publicly available sources on topics such as supply-chain best practices, risk sensing, control-tower models, and emerging AI/digital use cases, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
Benchmark how leading pharmaceutical and life-sciences companies approach a defined challenge and summarize implications for DSI.
Partner and rotate across USSCM teams (e.g., planning, distribution, CMO/technical operations, analytics) to learn how a pharma supply chain operates end to end.
Observe and document CoE and supply chain workflows, building understanding of processes, systems, and cross-functional handoffs.
Synthesize work into concise deliverables and present a final capstone at the Tech Unit Internship Achievement Presentation.
What You'll Learn
How product moves from manufacturing through distribution to patients, and the planning, quality, and compliance controls along the way.
How a Center of Excellence drives process improvement, analytics, and digital/AI enablement across a large organization.
How cross-functional supply chain teams collaborate to solve real operational challenges.
