US Eye/CFS Patient Care Counselor

Come join our Team as a Patient Care Counselor at US Eye!
A Patient Care Counselor ensures patients fully understand all aspect of their surgical journey. In this role, the individual must be very knowledgeable about each phase of the patient's surgery and be able to identify and educate patients on their options for cataract and various other surgical procedures. The Patient Care Counselor is responsible for patient education, scheduling patient surgeries as well as post operative appointments and collecting payments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other duties as required):
1. Educate patients on vision options.
2. Assist patients with Alphaeon and Care Credit, applications, as needed.
3. Scheduling of surgery and post operative appointments.
4. Check for Insurance Verification.
5. Collect fees for vision option, any co-pays, deductible still due and any Co-Insurance.
Adherence to applicable laws, regulations and contractual obligations. Follows the principles of the Compliance Program as well as the Code of Conduct.

COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication.
- Ability to speak clearly in order for patients to understand without misinterpretation or confusion.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.
- Proficient in computer skills, NextGen and Nextech a plus!
- Professional maturity, appearance, and demeanor required.
- Must be able to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time, hourly position. Typical days and hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M, with occasional overtime. This is an in-office position.
TRAVEL:
Travel may be required to Fort Myers, Florida.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A high school graduate or equivalent
- Exceptional people-skills
High level of organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Thorough communication skills
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate or bachelor’s Degree
