Summary

A Used Car Recon Technician inspects and repairs electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and control modules in pre-owned vehicles at automotive dealerships. Uses diagnostic tools to troubleshoot automotive issues, performs minor mechanical work like brake and suspension repairs, and ensures quality standards per manufacturer specifications.

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per flag hour, negotiable based on experience

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic components in vehicles, including wiring, lighting, sensors, and control modules.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments, such as brake and suspension work, wheel alignments, and fluid changes.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot automotive issues accurately.
  • Ensure all work is completed to high-quality standards and follows manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of all repairs, parts used, and services performed.
  • Communicate with customers to explain repairs and provide estimates for services.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive technology and industry trends through training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary automotive training is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an automotive technician, particularly in electrical and electronic systems.
  • ASE certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools and software.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
