Used Repair Facility Foreman

You Know How to Fix Cars. We Give You a Better Place to Do It.

Tired of the same old dealership shop?

Maybe you’re an experienced mechanic who can diagnose and repair just about anything that rolls through the door. Maybe you’ve worked on every make and model imaginable. Maybe you learned the trade through years of hands-on experience rather than a classroom or certification program.

And maybe you’re just not interested in spending your days doing warranty work.

If that sounds like you, we should talk.

Lewis Automotive Group is looking for an experienced Working Foreman / Used Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing pre-owned vehicle repair facility.

This is a hands-on position for a mechanic who enjoys diagnosing problems, fixing vehicles, working on different makes and models, and taking pride in doing the job right.

This Is Not Your Typical Dealership Technician Job

Our primary focus is pre-owned vehicle inspection, repair, and reconditioning.

You won't spend your day performing routine manufacturer warranty repairs. Instead, you'll work on a constantly changing mix of cars, trucks, SUVs, domestic vehicles, imports, older vehicles, newer vehicles, and everything in between.

If you enjoy figuring out "What's wrong with it?" and then making it right, you'll fit in here.

And you don't have to be ASE certified to be successful.

We value experience, diagnostic ability, mechanical skill, and workmanship.

ASE certifications are preferred, but they are not required. If you've spent years turning wrenches and know how to diagnose and repair vehicles, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a Working Foreman / mechanic, you'll remain hands-on in the shop while serving as a technical resource for the team.

Inspect & Diagnose

  • Perform comprehensive inspections of incoming pre-owned vehicles.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, safety, drivability, and maintenance concerns.
  • Diagnose problems across a wide variety of makes and models.
  • Use scan tools, diagnostic equipment, service information, wiring diagrams, and your experience to find the cause of problems.
  • Determine what each vehicle needs to be safe, reliable, and retail-ready.

Repair & Recondition

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on cars, trucks, and SUVs.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, drivability concerns, electrical systems, HVAC, steering, suspension, brakes, cooling systems, and other vehicle systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and necessary reconditioning repairs.
  • Complete repairs correctly and efficiently.
  • Test drive vehicles before and after repairs to verify the quality of your work.

Lead by Example

  • Remain a productive, hands-on technician.
  • Assist other technicians with difficult diagnostics and repairs.
  • Share your knowledge and experience with less-experienced technicians.
  • Help establish consistent repair and inspection standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the shop.
  • Lead through your workmanship, attitude, professionalism, and experience—not from behind a desk.

Who We're Looking For

We're not necessarily looking for someone with a stack of certificates.

We're looking for someone who knows cars.

You may be a great fit if you are:

  • An experienced automotive technician or mechanic.
  • Comfortable working on multiple makes and models.
  • Strong at diagnosing problems rather than simply replacing parts.
  • Someone who takes pride in fixing a vehicle correctly the first time.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • The person other mechanics come to when they can't figure something out.
  • A mechanic who enjoys variety and doesn't want to work on the same vehicle or same repair every day.
  • Someone who would rather spend their day fixing vehicles than filling out warranty paperwork.
  • A natural leader who enjoys helping other technicians become better.

ASE Certified? Great.

ASE certification is highly preferred, but it is not required.

We recognize that some of the best mechanics learned their trade through years of hands-on experience.

If you can diagnose it, repair it, and prove it with your work, we want to meet you.
