Utilities Technician

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Utilities Technician I to support the operation and maintenance of critical utility systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level technical role responsible for routine monitoring, preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and documentation of utility equipment while ensuring compliance with cGMP and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.

Candidates must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Location: Tuas, Singapore

Duration: Until 31st December 2026

Key Responsibilities:

Utility Systems Operations

  • Perform routine operation and monitoring of utility systems, including boilers, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling units (AHUs).
  • Conduct equipment checks and record operational parameters according to established procedures.
  • Escalate equipment abnormalities and support corrective actions under supervision.

Maintenance Activities

  • Execute planned preventive maintenance activities on utility equipment.
  • Support maintenance troubleshooting and basic equipment repairs.
  • Assist senior technicians and engineers during maintenance and shutdown activities.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Complete maintenance records, logbooks, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), EHS requirements, and site procedures.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, and compliance initiatives as required.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Follow site safety requirements and promote a safe working environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

Requirements:

  • NITEC, Higher NITEC, ITE Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, process manufacturing, semiconductor, power generation, or related industries.
  • Basic understanding of utility systems such as boilers, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, and AHUs.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programmes and CMMS systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Awareness of EHS requirements and safe work practices.
