UX Designer - AI

Open 54d posting dated 2 weeks ago

Summary

Design AI-powered agent workflows for loan origination and financial services, collaborating with product and engineering to create seamless human-AI interactions in fintech.

UX Designer - AI

MeridianLink is seeking an exceptional UX Designer to design AI-powered experiences that are reshaping the fintech and loan origination space. This is a high-impact role for someone ready to move fast, push market boundaries, and help define what user-centered AI agents look like in financial services.

You'll work at the intersection of product, engineering, and AI to design and refine intelligent agent workflows that streamline complex lending processes. Rather than designing static interfaces, you'll architect interactive agent systems—designing how users collaborate with AI to originate loans, manage accounts, and solve financial challenges. Your work will directly shape how the industry thinks about agentic UX in fintech.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design AI agent interactions and workflows: Create user experiences where humans and AI agents work together seamlessly. Define how agents should present information, request input, handle uncertainty, and earn user trust throughout the lending journey.

  • Hands-on design and rapid prototyping: Drive design iterations from concept through high-fidelity prototypes. Move quickly to test assumptions, validate agent behaviors with users, and iterate based on real feedback.

  • Collaborate deeply with product and engineering on AI implementation: Speak the language of AI—understand prompt architecture, agentic workflows, model outputs, and system constraints. Partner closely with product and development teams to translate UX requirements into effective agent design patterns.

  • Design for loan origination workflows: Apply deep expertise in the fintech and lending space to simplify critical workflows—application processes, underwriting interfaces, document handling, and account management—enhanced by AI agents.

  • Build and advocate for agentic UX standards: Establish design principles, patterns, and best practices for AI agent interactions within our products. Create reusable design components and workflows that scale across multiple agent implementations.

  • Develop and iterate design systems: Use Figma to build component libraries, design systems, and interactive prototypes that support both traditional UI and emerging AI agent patterns. Ensure consistency and scalability across products.

  • Leverage automation and AI-assisted design tools: Integrate tools like Make and Claude into your design workflow to increase velocity, generate design artifacts, and collaborate more effectively with engineering teams.

  • Present design decisions with technical rigor: Communicate design rationale to stakeholders with clarity and depth. When designing AI agents, articulate how and why specific interaction patterns, information architecture, and fallback mechanisms serve both user and business needs.

  • Champion user research and testing: Drive user research that validates agent behaviors, tests interaction patterns, and uncovers emerging needs in AI-assisted financial workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant professional UX design experience (or equivalent).

  • Fluency in AI concepts: Comfortable discussing and understanding prompts, agentic workflows, model limitations, hallucination, and how AI systems behave in practice. Experience collaborating with ML/AI teams or designing AI-assisted features is a significant plus.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including design systems, component libraries, and advanced prototyping capabilities.

  • Proven ability to move fast and iterate under pressure while maintaining thoughtful, user-centered design.

  • Knowledge of the fintech and loan origination space—or demonstrated ability to quickly master complex financial workflows.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills: You can translate between design, product, and technical perspectives, and you thrive in environments where autonomy and speed are valued.

  • Hands-on approach: You design and build prototypes yourself rather than delegating early. You're comfortable diving into code, tools, and experimental workflows to validate ideas.

What We're Looking For

  • A market-maker mindset: Someone energized by the challenge of being first—or first at scale—to solve new AI+UX problems in lending. You see market opportunity and want to define new standards.

  • Technical fluency without being an engineer: You understand AI's capabilities and limitations well enough to design effectively with them. You can brainstorm with product and engineers as a peer.

  • Speed + thoughtfulness: You can ship quickly without sacrificing user-centered rigor. You iterate fast, but you validate decisions with research and testing.

  • Hands-on bias: You prototype, test, and refine personally. You're not waiting for others to execute your vision—you're in the tools, experimenting, and learning.

  • Passion for the problem space: You're genuinely excited about AI agents, fintech innovation, and helping users navigate complex financial tasks through intelligent, human-centered design.

  • Collaborative spirit with healthy confidence: You advocate strongly for user-centered design, but you also listen, adapt, and find creative solutions within technical and business constraints.
