Job Description:
The User Experience (UX) Research Contractor will be responsible for independently scoping, planning, and executing custom user research across digital products and experiences. This role will focus on understanding the needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points of multiple user groups, which may include customers, agents, employees, business partners, and other stakeholders.
The UX Research Contractor will partner closely with software product development teams, including Product Owners, UX Product Designers, UX Content Strategists, business stakeholders, and Information Technology teams. The role will help translate business objectives and technology capabilities into meaningful research insights that inform product strategy, design decisions, and user-centered solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Independently scope, plan, and execute qualitative and quantitative UX research projects from beginning to end.
- Identify user needs, behaviors, motivations, and pain points to inform digital product and experience design.
- Partner with Product Owners, UX Designers, Content Strategists, business teams, and IT stakeholders to understand research objectives and business priorities.
- Develop research plans, methodologies, discussion guides, surveys, and other research materials.
- Apply a variety of user research methods, including:
- Usability testing
- User interviews
- Online surveys
- Card sorting
- Concept testing
- Journey mapping
- Moderated and unmoderated research
- Qualitative and quantitative research
- Recruit and engage appropriate research participants based on project requirements.
- Conduct interviews, usability studies, surveys, and other research activities.
- Analyze and synthesize research findings to identify meaningful themes, trends, and actionable insights.
- Translate research findings into clear recommendations that support product and design decisions.
- Present research results and insights to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with design and product teams throughout the development process to ensure research insights are incorporated into solutions.
- Apply Design Thinking and user-centered design principles to research and product development initiatives.
- Help identify opportunities to improve digital experiences and overall customer and user satisfaction.
- Manage multiple research projects and priorities while meeting established timelines and deliverables.
- Document research findings, methodologies, insights, and recommendations in clear and compelling formats.
- Stay current with UX research methodologies, industry trends, and emerging best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in UX Research, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, Design, Human Factors, or a related field preferred.
- Experience conducting end-to-end UX research in a digital product or technology environment.
- Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with usability testing, interviews, surveys, card sorting, and other UX research techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn research data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional product, design, technology, and business teams.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design and Design Thinking principles.
- Ability to independently manage multiple research projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with UX research and survey tools is a plus.
