VA Educational Benefits Coordinator and School Certifying Official

Summary

Coordinate and certify VA educational benefits for students, advise veterans on benefit processes, and maintain compliance with federal regulations.

JOB SUMMARY:

Administer Veterans Administration VA and Tuition Assistance TA educational benefits programs Advise counsel and serve as a point of contact for students parents and university partners Serve as a School Certifying Official for VA benefits Perform other duties as assigned

JOB DUTIES:

20% - Advising/Communications: Handle student inquiries for the department and
individually advise students on the VA educational benefit process and procedures.
Work collaboratively with academic advisors and academic departments to provide
timely information on course/degree options. Communicate with campus partners to solve complex inquiries from prospective and current students. Collaborate with
Financial Aid (FA) and/or Student Financial Services (SFS) regarding tuition waivers, transmission of information among offices, financial reconciliation, and the various impacts on student accounts due to enrollment changes/updates. Primary liaison between department and both SFS and FA.

20% - Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to veterans, service members, and military families through consistent and effective contact via multiple channels to encourage communication, retention, and degree completion. Recommend changes in internal policies and procedures for improvement. Provide one-on-one student support in person, over the telephone, and through email or other written correspondence. Assist students who are experiencing issues regarding payments or problems regarding entitlement of education benefits. Works with the VA's VR&E counselors on behalf of student veterans to obtain appropriate authorization documentation. Works collaboratively with SFS to process all VR&E and TA requests.

and Tuition Assistance and informs students of documentation needed for processing and provides timely updates to students on processing their benefit. Present information on behalf of the VA Educational Benefits department at new and
continuing student events and other special events. Complete federally required
annual training to remain current on matters pertaining to VA rules, benefits, and
additions to the SCO handbook. Participate in local, state, and federal professional
development opportunities.

records and documentation of all VA certifications. Responsible for appropriate coding of students within university data platforms and external reporting databases.

40% - Certifications: Serve as a VA School Certifying Official. Develop and maintain

Minimum Requirements:

COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

Expected Salary Range

33,340.00 - 50,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL:

Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
