Vacuum Tanker Driver

Job Purpose
To operate the vacuum tanker to and from assigned locations to haul and safely dispose fluids/sewage from the company’s premises, facilities, and other clients’ locations ensuring safe, hygiene and healthy environment in conformance to prescribed quality standards of cleanliness.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Maintains a friendly manner and reflects curtesy and positive attitude.
- Works in accordance with adopted policies, procedures, quality standards and within agreed timeframes as per instructed by the direct supervisor/manager.
- Performs quality sewage cleaning to cover the company office building, accommodation, subsidiaries, as well as other customer locations.
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating truck condition.
- Drives the Vacuum Truck to the customers’ location(s) to pick up fluids/sewage used. Pulls hose(s) from the hose tray and connects one end to the truck and puts the other end into the pit or connects to a tank to extract fluid.
- Monitors the amount of fluid extracted and the amount of fluid the vacuum truck is lawfully allowed to haul, and other situations presented by the site or the customer.
- Drives the truck carefully and efficiently to and from the loading site or customers’ locations, disposal site(s) or back to the area location.
- Maintains accurate work tickets based on the company’s requirements and the work performed for the customer(s) as well as maintains accurate driving log books, pre-trip / post-trip inspections and maintenance files on the vehicle.
- This position requires standing, walking, and sitting while working either indoors or outdoors.
- While performing the job, will be required to lift/carry, pull/push, reach, squat, kneel, and or climb ladders or stairs.
- Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions. This may include chemicals, gases, cold/heat, noise, dampness, dust, fumes, radiation and heights.
- Alerts appropriate supervision when mechanical defects are noted on the truck as well as when work hours may exceed the allowed timings.
- Effectively communicates information to clients, and other employees of the company.
- Complies with all health and safety measures and regulations.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
- High School or equivalent is acceptable.
- Demonstrates a pleasant personality and positive attitude all times.
- Well organized with good time management skills.
- Dynamic and physically fit for the job, requires frequent movement (sitting, standing, walking, dragging, climbing, balancing, etc.)
- Must be knowledgeable with applicable Rules and Regulations related to the position.
- Ability to understand assignments and perform tasks according to priorities and logical order.
- An understanding of basic maintenance concepts is required to perform light to heavy repairs as necessary.
- Willing to work on shift pattern (24/7) and long working hours.
- Cooperative team players demonstrate ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Reliable, self-motivated displays energy and enthusiasm.
Work Experience
- 1-2 years of similar experience operating vacuum tanker machine in a regulated environment is a must.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with the proper endorsements required for the type of vehicle operated.
- Must have completed the necessary training with respect to the operation of the equipment.
- To have the proper brake certification if needed.
- Experienced in using hand tools and other equipment associated with vehicles.
