Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group – Marathon Equipment

Reports to: Director, Marathon Operations

Department: Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Value Stream Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all activities within an assigned value stream to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of quality products. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing principles, establishes operational excellence standards, and aligns cross-functional teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. The Value Stream Manager provides leadership to production, materials, quality, and support functions while fostering a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the assigned value stream, ensuring achievement of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost goals.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve operational performance through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement initiatives,
  • Drive a culture focused on workplace safety and environmental compliance by ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and other functional teams to remove barriers and improve overall business performance.
  • Manage production planning and resource allocation to meet customer demand and operational objectives.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and production team members to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Ensure product quality standards are achieved by implementing corrective actions and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate daily management activities, including tiered meetings, performance reviews, and action plan execution.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and operational expenditures.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Support new product launches, engineering changes, and process improvements to ensure successful implementation.
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable quality management systems.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Less than 10% of travel required.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.

• Experience managing production operations within a Lean Manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.

• Experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial equipment, fabrication, welding, or assembly operations preferred.

• Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, Value Stream Management, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to interpret operational data and drive performance improvements.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Six Sigma certification or Lean certification preferred.

• Ability to frequently walk throughout manufacturing and warehouse facilities.

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

• Must be able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.

Continual Improvement and Problem Resolution: Identifies and communicates suggestions for work improvements. Uses technical and analytical abilities to assure existing work practices are the most efficient and cost effective possible. Performs root-cause analysis and implements viable, permanent solutions to problems. Works with both internal and external customers to develop solutions which meet company-wide needs and objectives. Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems or creates opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. Shares best practices with other employees across the business.

Accountability: Accepts responsibility and accessibility for both the strategic planning and the successful implementation of all projects, programs, and duties as outlined in this job description. Advises supervisor of concerns, problems, and progress of work in a timely manner.
