Summary

The Experienced Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic independently diagnoses, repairs, and maintains Loveland Ski Area's diverse fleet of buses, snowcats, heavy equipment, snowmobiles, ATVs/UTVs, trailers, and support vehicles. This position performs advanced troubleshooting, mentors less experienced mechanics, and participates in snow stake assessments and snow removal operations to support safe and efficient mountain operations. This position plays a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and operational readiness through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and a commitment to safety. Every employee is responsible for providing a positive experience for our guests and employees, with safety and fun as our top priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Independently diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and diesel emissions systems, including complete Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) overhauls.
  • Perform advanced preventive maintenance and major component repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve difficult equipment failures involving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, electronic, and emissions systems
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training to Apprentice, Mechanic 1 (and Mechanic 2) employees.
  • Participate in early morning snow stake assessments and independently operate snow removal equipment as needed to help ensure parking lots, roadways, and guest access areas are safely prepared for daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, repair documentation, and recommend equipment improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, environmental regulations, and applicable diesel emissions standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and outside repair facilities regarding parts, repairs, warranty claims, and technical support.
  • May assist other departments with projects, operational support, and special assignments as business needs dictate.

Level 3 Mechanic will perform all of the above and will also perform more advanced/complex maintenance, leading major repairs, overhauls, fabrication projects and component replacements; inspect the work of others and recommend correction actions; and will provide filed leadership, as needed.
