A vehicle technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electronic systems in various automotive vehicles.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Run advanced diagnostics. Use specialized scan tools to read fault codes and isolate system errors.
  • Trace electrical faults. Read wiring diagrams to locate shorts, broken circuits, and sensor failures.
  • Evaluate mechanical issues. Inspect engines, transmissions, and drivetrains to pinpoint wear or failure.
  • Isolate fluid leaks. Pressure-test cooling, braking, and steering systems to locate fluid containment failures.

Repair & Component Replacement

  • Overhaul major assemblies. Remove, rebuild, or replace faulty engines, gearboxes, and transmissions.
  • Service braking systems. Replace worn brake pads, resurface rotors, and bleed hydraulic lines.
  • Fix suspension components. Install new shock absorbers, struts, ball joints, and steering linkages.
  • Maintain HVAC units. Recharge refrigerant, replace cabin filters, and repair climate control actuators.
