This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Vice President, Cloud Platform Engineer based in the United States.

The Vice President, Cloud Platform Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise to advance enterprise-wide cloud infrastructure and automation capabilities. This fully remote, full-time role focuses on designing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud platforms using AWS and modern DevOps technologies. You will lead infrastructure-as-code initiatives, develop sophisticated CI/CD pipelines, and support cloud-native application deployments across diverse architectures. Combining strategic planning with practical implementation, you will mentor engineering colleagues while establishing standards and best practices across the platform engineering function. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will drive architecture decisions and deliver solutions in complex, multi-customer environments. This is an opportunity to shape digital transformation through resilient, automated, and secure cloud technologies.

Accountabilities:

  • Contribute as both a senior individual contributor and technical mentor, guiding engineers within the Cloud Platform Engineering team.

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated infrastructure using Terraform and AWS services, including Lambda, SQS, RabbitMQ, and event-driven technologies.

  • Build and optimize advanced CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and FluxCD.

  • Automate application deployments across monolithic, stateless, and serverless architectures.

  • Design cloud architecture frameworks aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and relevant security standards, including NIST and NYDFS requirements.

  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for infrastructure-as-code adoption and implementation across products at different maturity levels.

  • Implement and manage AWS security and networking configurations, including IAM policies, permission sets, Security Groups, Network Access Control Lists (NACLs), and VPCs.

  • Design and develop scalable AWS services and cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes, Istio, Linkerd, and Karpenter.

  • Support operational excellence by delivering reliable solutions in demanding, multi-customer environments while addressing complex technical requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on infrastructure design, architecture decisions, and implementation strategies.

  • Communicate project progress, technical decisions, and key updates clearly to leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Establish and enforce infrastructure design standards, reusable templates, engineering best practices, and consistent delivery processes.

  • Take on additional responsibilities and initiatives as required to support team and organizational objectives.

  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

    • At least 8 years of relevant industry experience, typically including 2 or more years in an AVP-level role or equivalent external position.

    • 10–15 years of experience in cloud automation and infrastructure development preferred.

    • At least 8 years of experience managing AWS security and networking configurations, including IAM, permission sets, NACLs, Security Groups, and related controls.

    • Extensive hands-on experience and strong technical proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

    • At least 6 years of experience developing CI/CD pipelines and implementing GitOps practices using tools such as ArgoCD, FluxCD, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.

    • Strong experience deploying and managing Kubernetes environments and service mesh technologies such as Istio and Linkerd.

    • Familiarity with Karpenter and similar tools for automated cloud-native scaling of APIs and workloads.

    • At least 6 years of programming and automation experience using Python, Shell, or comparable scripting languages.

    • Strong knowledge of AWS services and architecture, including EKS, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Step Functions, VPC, IAM, and firewall configurations.

    • Ability to combine strategic technical leadership with hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and implementation.

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to mentor colleagues and work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    • Benefits:

      • Annual base salary: $150,000–$175,000, depending on qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and market alignment.

      • Potential eligibility for a discretionary bonus, subject to program guidelines, position eligibility, and management approval.

      • Paid time off (PTO).

      • Paid holidays.

      • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

      • Life and disability insurance.

      • 401(k) retirement savings plan.

      • Fully remote work arrangement.

      • Opportunities to contribute to enterprise-level cloud transformation and develop advanced technical leadership expertise.
