Description

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways

• Perform and coordinate the daily end-to-end NAV production and publication process for German registered funds, ensuring that all required accounting activities, reviews and control checkpoints are completed within agreed timelines.

• Record and review fund-accounting transactions and adjustments, including securities and cash transactions, income and expense accruals, fees, corporate actions, subscriptions and redemptions, pricing updates and other NAV-relevant entries.

• Perform and evidence cash and position reconciliations, NAV reasonableness checks, variance reviews and risk-based controls. Investigate unexplained or inconsistent results and resolve or escalate open items before NAV release.

• Calculate, review and release NAVs for publication, ensuring that late inputs, unresolved matters and potential NAV impacts are appropriately assessed, documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

• Act as a key operational contact for German depositaries in relation to NAV reconciliation, accounting entries, valuation questions, control evidence, queries and exceptions, and coordinate timely resolution with the relevant internal teams.

• Work closely with Pricing, Data Management, Custody, Corporate Actions, Transfer Agency, Technology and other stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate transaction, position, valuation and reference data for the NAV process.

• Own or coordinate complex operational issues and accounting exceptions across multiple funds, maintaining clear accountability, documented decisions and an appropriate audit trail.

• Monitor the completeness and effectiveness of daily accounting controls, identify recurring issues and control gaps, and drive sustainable remediation, process improvements and preventive controls.

• Support fund launches, migrations, conversions, material fund events and changes to accounting or operating models by defining accounting requirements, validating readiness and ensuring effective operational handover.

• Support internal and external audits, client reviews and governance forums by providing accounting explanations, control evidence, issue status and follow-up on agreed actions.

• Provide subject-matter guidance and constructive challenge to operational colleagues without direct people-management responsibility.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking the following

German registered-fund and accounting expertise

• Strong practical experience in fund accounting, NAV production or fund administration, ideally covering German registered funds.

• Sound understanding of the complete NAV lifecycle, including trade capture and booking, cash and position reconciliation, valuation and pricing, corporate actions, income and expense recognition, fee accruals, capital activity and release of fund prices.

• Strong understanding of the German investment-fund environment and the operational requirements applying to German retail or registered funds, including the interaction between the management company (KVG), fund administrator and depositary.

• Experience analysing NAV movements and accounting exceptions, determining their potential impact and ensuring that issues are addressed through correction, review, escalation and documentation.

• Practical experience with HGB accounting, relevant fund documentation and German fund-accounting requirements is required. Exposure to IFRS and investment-law reporting contexts is an advantage.

Accounting operations, controls and stakeholder management

• Proven ability to perform and control daily fund-accounting activities in a deadline-driven NAV production environment.

• Experience preparing and reviewing accounting entries, reconciliations, analytical reviews and control evidence, with clear understanding of maker-checker responsibilities.

• Confidence in investigating accounting and data breaks, identifying root causes and coordinating resolution across internal teams, external stakeholders and different time zones.

• Experience working with external stakeholders, particularly German depositaries, as well as auditors, clients or service providers, with clear and professional written and verbal communication.

• Ability to manage multiple funds, daily deadlines and escalations while maintaining a strong focus on accounting accuracy, documentation and timely NAV publication.

Professional capabilities

• Several years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund administration, investment accounting, depositary operations, audit or a related financial-services environment, with sufficient depth to handle complex matters independently.

• Strong analytical judgement, attention to detail and a control-focused mindset, combined with the ability to distinguish material accounting issues from routine exceptions.

• Ability to take ownership of operational outcomes and provide effective technical guidance without relying on direct line-management authority.

• Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to remain effective in a deadline-driven NAV production environment.

• Very good written and spoken German and English are required for communication with German external stakeholders and international internal teams.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with fund-accounting platforms, workflow tools, data analytics or automation solutions is an advantage.

• A degree or comparable qualification in accounting, finance, business administration or a related discipline is preferred. A relevant professional accounting or investment qualification is an advantage.

What success looks like

• All required accounting activities and controls are completed and evidenced within the relevant NAV timetable.

• Transactions, positions, valuations, income, expenses and capital activity are accurately reflected in the fund accounting records and the resulting NAV.

• Accounting exceptions and potential NAV impacts are identified early, corrected or escalated promptly, and supported by clear ownership and audit trail.

• NAVs are calculated, reconciled with German depositaries and released accurately and on time.

• Daily fund-accounting processes and controls support reliable NAV production and reduce recurring operational risk.

• Complex operational issues, migrations and fund changes are managed without compromising daily accounting and control obligations.
