Vice President of Engineering

You will own end-to-end engineering execution, from roadmap planning and sprint cadence to release quality and cross-team dependencies. You will lead the strategy for integrating LLMs, agentic workflows, and AI-native development practices into products at scale, defining standards for AI output quality, hallucination control, and cost governance. You will stay deeply hands-on, leading architecture reviews and owning critical system design decisions across distributed systems, scalability, and reliability. You will lead and grow a distributed engineering organization across the US and India, managing directors and senior managers, setting the hiring bar, and recruiting senior talent. You will represent engineering at the executive level, own your domain's budget including headcount planning and cloud cost optimization, and partner with Sales and Customer Success on enterprise commitments and SLA design.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end engineering execution including roadmap planning, sprint cadence, release quality, and cross-team dependency management
• Partner with Product teams to align engineering capacity with product priorities
• Drive a culture of high velocity and high trust
• Lead the engineering strategy for integrating LLMs, agentic workflows, and AI-native development practices into products at scale
• Drive adoption of modern developer productivity tools and AI-augmented engineering workflows
• Define standards for AI output quality, hallucination control, cost governance, and production reliability
• Compress idea-to-ship cycles for GenAI features from prototype to production
• Partner with ML and AI Transformation teams to embed AI into internal workflows
• Lead architecture reviews and own critical system design decisions
• Own the technical roadmap across distributed systems, platform architecture, scalability, and reliability
• Set and enforce engineering standards for code quality, observability, incident response, and security
• Make high-stakes architectural decisions balancing speed, cost, and maintainability
• Lead and grow a distributed engineering organization across the US and India
• Manage directors and senior managers and coach them into leaders
• Set the hiring bar, build the interview process, and recruit senior talent
• Own DEI and retention outcomes within the engineering domain
• Represent engineering at the executive level on technology execution, risks, and investments
• Own the engineering budget including headcount planning, tooling spend, and cloud cost optimization
• Partner with Sales and Customer Success on enterprise commitments, SLA design, and escalation resolution

Requirements

• 14+ years in software engineering with at least 5 years in engineering leadership
• Experience scaling through Series C or equivalent growth
• Strong IC background progressed through the Architect or Principal Engineer route
• Hands-on experience shipping AI/ML systems to production including LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, or document intelligence
• Proven ability to build and scale large-scale distributed platforms with high availability and reliability requirements
• Experience partnering with a CTO or CEO on technical strategy
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native microservices architecture at scale, AWS preferred
• Background in fintech, document AI, IDP, or regulated data-intensive industries preferred
• Experience running engineering in a human-in-the-loop or hybrid AI/human system preferred
• Experience building engineering culture including hiring bar, onboarding, performance, and career ladders preferred
• Familiarity with modern developer productivity tooling and AI-augmented SDLC practices preferred
• Comfort operating across US and India time zones with globally distributed teams
