Job Description:
Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded Partnership Manager to advance innovation across Global Transaction Banking. The role will focus primarily on identifying, assessing, developing, and commercializing new transaction banking capabilities for large corporate clients, with particular emphasis on embedded banking experiences delivered through Treasury Management Systems (TMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, and other corporate workflow environments.
Partnership development is a core component of the role. The successful candidate will identify, evaluate, structure, launch, and manage relationships with TMS and ERP providers, fintechs, data and connectivity platforms, AI solution providers, and other third parties. By combining the bank’s product capabilities with external technologies, the role will create novel solutions that solve meaningful client problems, accelerate speed to market, strengthen the bank’s competitive position, and generate sustainable product-level revenue.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Banking Innovation & Product Commercialization
• Manage the innovation pipeline for transaction banking products, from client problem identification and opportunity assessment through concept development, proof of concept, business case, commercialization, and handoff into product execution.
• Partner with product teams, sales, coverage, clients, and external partners to identify unmet needs among large corporate clients and design practical, differentiated solutions that improve treasury and finance workflows.
• Develop product-level value propositions, business cases, revenue models, pricing hypotheses, adoption measures, and commercialization plans for new capabilities.
• Create novel solutions that combine the bank’s transaction banking capabilities with third-party technologies to improve client outcomes and generate new or expanded revenue streams.
• Prioritize opportunities based on strategic alignment, client value, revenue potential, feasibility, scalability, risk, and time to market.
2. Large Corporate Embedded Banking in TMS and ERP Ecosystems
• Define and advance the strategy for embedding transaction banking capabilities into TMS, ERP, and adjacent corporate platforms used by large corporate clients.
• Identify high-value embedded banking use cases across payments, receivables, cash positioning, liquidity, account information, reconciliation, reporting, and related treasury workflows.
• Work with platform providers, fintechs, product teams, technology teams, and clients to shape integrated experiences that reduce friction and bring banking capabilities into clients’ systems of work.
• Assess connectivity approaches, including APIs, platform integrations, data exchange, and workflow orchestration, in partnership with Technology, Architecture, Information Security, Risk, and Product.
• Build repeatable ecosystem and distribution models that improve client experience and support scalable commercialization across client segments and markets.
3. Partner Identification, Capability Assessment & Ecosystem Strategy
• Proactively source and evaluate partnership opportunities aligned with transaction banking product strategies and priority client problems.
• Create and manage a targeted third-party ecosystem spanning TMS providers, ERP providers, fintechs, data and connectivity platforms, AI solution providers, and other transaction banking technology firms.
• Conduct market scans, competitive analysis, partner due diligence, and structured capability assessments to identify technologies that can close product gaps, accelerate delivery, or create differentiated client value.
• Evaluate build, buy, and partner options using clear criteria for strategic fit, product value, technical readiness, commercial viability, scalability, financial stability, cultural alignment, regulatory alignment, and operational risk.
• Develop ecosystem roadmaps that align partner capabilities with product priorities, commercialization opportunities, and large-corporate client needs.
• Lead proofs of concept, sandbox evaluations, partner demonstrations, and client validation activities before broader investment or commercialization.
4. Partnership Development, Negotiation & Onboarding
• Serve as the relationship owner from initial engagement through evaluation, selection, due diligence, commercial negotiation, contracting, onboarding, and integration planning.
• Lead negotiations that balance commercial, operational, technology, risk, compliance, and client considerations.
• Structure agreements that align incentives, define deliverables and governance, protect the bank, address ownership and data rights, establish service expectations, and support scalable commercialization.
• Coordinate onboarding and cross-functional introductions so partners integrate effectively into the bank’s product, technology, risk, and operating environment.
• Build strong partner relationships that move beyond transactional vendor management toward mutually beneficial, long-term ecosystem partnerships.
5. Partnership Governance, Performance & Lifecycle Management
• Oversee the partnership and third-party lifecycle from onboarding through performance monitoring, issue resolution, renewal, expansion, and exit planning.
• Support governance forums and operating rhythms with partners and internal stakeholders to maintain accountability, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for expanded value.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Third-Party Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Information Security, Finance, and Operations to navigate the bank’s control environment and accelerate responsible execution.
• Recommend corrective actions when partner performance, delivery, risk, or commercial outcomes do not meet expectations.
6. AI and Emerging Technology for Transaction Banking
• Assess artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies for specific application within transaction banking products and large-corporate treasury workflows.
• Identify AI use cases that can improve client decision-making, automation, exception management, forecasting, servicing, operational efficiency, and product differentiation.
• Partner with Product, Technology, Data, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and model governance stakeholders to evaluate feasibility, data requirements, controls, explainability, and responsible deployment considerations.
• Translate promising AI concepts into product hypotheses, proofs of concept, measurable client outcomes, partner opportunities, and commercially viable product roadmaps.
• Maintain current market intelligence and a network of relevant technology partners, communicating implications and recommended actions to senior stakeholders.
7. Stakeholder Leadership & Executive Influence
• Act as a trusted advisor to transaction banking product, technology, sales, coverage, and senior business leaders on innovation, embedded banking, partnership strategy, and external capabilities.
• Build compelling business cases and executive recommendations that connect client problems, product strategy, partner capabilities, economics, risk, and implementation considerations.
• Lead cross-functional working groups and align stakeholders around priorities, partner selections, investment decisions, pilots, and commercialization plans.
• Provide clear executive updates on the innovation and partnership portfolio, ecosystem roadmap, key decisions, product economics, delivery progress, risks, and realized outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
• 6-9 years of experience in transaction banking, product management, innovation, embedded banking, strategic partnerships, fintech, or related financial services and technology roles.
• Demonstrated experience developing or commercializing transaction banking capabilities for large corporate clients.
• Hands-on knowledge of corporate treasury workflows and the role of TMS and ERP platforms in payments, receivables, liquidity, reporting, and reconciliation.
• Proven experience identifying, evaluating, negotiating, onboarding, and governing third-party partnerships in complex, regulated environments.
• Ability to assess market opportunities and external capabilities, build business cases, and translate concepts into commercially viable product solutions.
• Strong commercial acumen, including partnership economics, revenue modeling, pricing, ROI assessment, negotiation, and product-level value realization.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across Product, Technology, Architecture, Sales, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and third-party providers.
• Excellent executive communication, stakeholder influence, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Preferred
• Deep knowledge of transaction banking products and market trends, including embedded banking, APIs, real-time payments, intelligent receivables, cash forecasting, liquidity, and data-driven treasury services.
• Experience working directly with TMS providers, ERP providers, fintechs, corporate treasury software firms, connectivity platforms, or embedded finance ecosystems.
• Experience assessing or delivering AI-enabled capabilities in banking, treasury, payments, receivables, servicing, operations, or corporate finance workflows.
• Understanding of API-led integration, data exchange, identity and access management, security, resiliency, service levels, and enterprise implementation considerations.
• Experience leading proofs of concept, client co-creation, product discovery, Agile delivery, or innovation portfolio governance.
• Familiarity with third-party governance, performance measurement, regulatory expectations, and commercialization models for partner-enabled banking products.
