Video Editor

Video Editor

Location: Bengaluru, India

Department: Non - Academic

Experience: 3-5 years

About the Role

We are looking for a Video Editor to edit videos of our YouTube, social and campaign output - long-form explainers, parent testimonials, teacher features, campus and classroom footage, ads and Shorts. You will work directly with the YouTube Manager on a planned content calendar, not on ad-hoc requests.
Expected output is roughly 15 long-form videos and [20-25] Shorts a month, so we need someone fast who does not trade speed for sloppiness. Retention is the metric that matters: we care less about how a cut looks in isolation and more about whether viewers are still watching at the four-minute mark.
This is a hands-on craft role with real ownership of the visual language of the channel - templates, motion system, pacing conventions - not a render-and-export seat.

Key Responsibilities

Editing & post-production
  • Cut long-form videos end to end: assembly, story structure, pacing, B-roll, music and sound design.
  • Edit for retention - tight cold opens, no dead air, visual change every few seconds, ruthless removal of anything that does not earn its place.
  • Handle colour correction and grading, audio cleanup, levelling and mixing to a consistent standard.
  • Produce accurate on-screen captions and burned-in subtitles, including for non-native-English viewers.
Motion graphics & brand system
  • Build lower thirds, titles, kinetic text, transitions, animated explainers and end cards in the 21K brand system.
  • Create and maintain a reusable template pack so common elements do not get rebuilt every time.
  • Turn academic and admissions information into clear visual explainers - curriculum comparisons, timelines, process flows.
Shorts, social & campaigns
  • Identify and cut Shorts and Reels from long-form footage with hook-first openings, not trimmed leftovers.
  • Version content correctly for each platform: aspect ratios, safe areas, durations, caption placement, thumbnails frames.
  • Edit performance-marketing creatives to brief, including multiple variants for testing.
Production support & asset management
  • Support shoots when needed - studio, remote and on-location - including basic camera, lighting and audio setup.
  • Ingest, log, back up and organise footage so any asset can be found months later.
  • Maintain a clean project and archive structure, with clear file naming and version control.
Workflow & quality
  • Hold agreed turnaround times and flag slippage early rather than at the deadline.
  • Take feedback in structured review rounds and close notes cleanly without repeat corrections.
  • Keep every output on-brand: colour, type, logo usage, tone and factual accuracy of on-screen claims.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years as a video editor in an agency, production house, creator team or in-house brand team - with a showreel we can watch, not just a CV.
  • Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects; comfortable with Media Encoder, Dynamic Link and proxy workflows on large projects.
  • A retention-first editing instinct - you can explain why you cut where you cut, and what you removed to keep the viewer watching.
  • Genuine audio skill: noise reduction, levelling, ducking and music selection. Bad audio loses viewers faster than bad video.
  • Motion graphics ability sufficient to build clean titles, text animation and simple explainer sequences unaided.
  • Speed with discipline - proven high-volume output, organised projects, and turnaround commitments you actually meet.
  • Working English strong enough to cut dialogue-driven content for accuracy and meaning, not just rhythm.

Good to Have

  • DaVinci Resolve for grading; Photoshop, Illustrator or Figma for stills and thumbnails.
  • Camera operation, lighting and location sound experience.
  • Subtitling or editing in Hindi, Tamil or other Indian languages, or for GCC and international audiences.
  • 2D character animation, whiteboard or explainer-style animation.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted post tools (Descript, Whisper transcription, Topaz, auto-caption and cleanup tools).
  • Edtech, education, parenting or another category where factual accuracy matters.

Why Join Us

  • Your work is the first impression thousands of parents get of the school - and you will see the retention data prove what worked.
  • A planned content calendar with real briefs, not last-minute scrambles.
  • Ownership of the channel’s visual language and template system from the ground up.
  • [Equipment and workstation provided / learning budget / flexible working - customise]
