Video Editor
You make things watchable and you make volume possible. Half this job is cutting hero content to a very high standard. The other half — the half that matters more — is building the template and preset system that lets the team publish 5x what one editor could cut by hand.
What you'll do
- Cut hero content: the concepts the manager is betting on, edited to a standard that competes with full-time creators
- Build and maintain the template library — hook openers, caption styles, transition packs, platform presets — so the creator can self-serve variants without you touching every file
- Own the pacing, cuts, sound design, captions, and motion that turn raw footage into retention
- Version every hero concept into platform-native cuts: aspect ratio, hook rewrite, length, caption style per platform
- Automate what can be automated — batch captioning, auto-reframe, preset-driven exports
- Maintain asset organization, file naming, and archive so nothing gets remade twice
- Feed the manager honest data on what's actually taking time, so briefs stay realistic
Required qualifications
- 4+ years editing short-form video with proven viral output — show us the videos and the view counts
- Expert in at least one professional suite (Premiere, DaVinci, After Effects) plus fast tools (CapCut Pro)
- Motion graphics and sound design capability — not just cuts
- Demonstrated systems thinking. You've built template/preset libraries before and can describe them
- Fluent with AI editing tooling and opinionated about which are worth paying for
- You understand why an edit retains — you can explain the choice behind a cut, not just make it
- Machine that can render at volume without dying
Nice to have
- Experience editing for a channel you also had a stake in growing
- Automation/scripting experience (batch processing, API-driven workflows)
- Thumbnail and cover design
Not a fit if
- You need to touch every single export personally
- You've only ever done client-service editing to spec
- You can't explain what makes an edit retain vs. just look nice
