Video Editor
NewBe an early applicantAbout This Role
We’re looking for a Video Editor who can turn strong ideas and captured footage into work that connects.
At The Gap People (TGP), we combine strategic storytelling with social-first execution for major Singapore brands. Our work spans social content, branded campaigns, corporate videos, and TVCs. You will shape footage into clear, engaging, technically polished edits that meet the brief.
From handover to final delivery, you will build the story, refine the cut, apply feedback, and prepare the right masters and platform versions. You will work across formats - from social cutdowns to corporate films and TVCs - while maintaining high standards in a fast-moving environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Edit across formats: Create social content, branded campaigns, corporate videos, TVCs, and their cutdowns, adaptations, and platform versions. Make editorial choices that suit the audience, channel, and brief.
- Own the offline edit: Organise and review media, sync picture and sound, make selects, and take edits from rough cut to polished, client-ready versions. Apply sound judgment in story, pacing, continuity, music, and shot selection.
- Finish for delivery: Complete basic colour balancing and matching, exposure and white-balance corrections, audio clean-up and balancing, captions, supers, graphics, and simple effects. Export the correct files for each channel.
- Manage versions and archive: Handle feedback and revisions efficiently, and keep project files, source material, edit versions, and masters organised and easy to retrieve.
- Collaborate creatively: Work with producers, strategists, writers, designers, and videographers to bring the brief to life.Flag footage or technical issues early and help find practical post-production solutions.
- Maintain quality: Apply brand guidelines consistently and check edit, colour, audio, graphics, captions, logos, and technical specifications before client review.
Who You Are
You have a sharp editorial eye and a practical production mindset. You understand that strong editing is about telling the right story, at the right pace, for the intended audience.
You work well independently and as part of a creative team. You can manage competing priorities and tight deadlines without compromising detail, communicate risks early, and turn feedback around thoughtfully.
You notice what weakens a finished film - uneven colour, jarring cuts, unclear dialogue, awkward captions, misplaced music cues, rushed endings, or incorrect exports - and take pride in resolving it before delivery.
Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years’ professional editing experience in an agency, production house, publisher, in-house creative team, or comparable freelance practice.
- A strong portfolio or reel showing range across branded content, campaigns, corporate video, commercials/TVCs, and/or social content. Please identify the work you edited and your role in each submission.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is highly valued.
- A solid understanding of the full editing workflow: media organisation, audio sync, selects, rough and fine cuts, basic colour correction, audio clean-up, captions, versioning, exports, and archiving.
- Strong judgment in pacing, music, shot selection, continuity, composition, and brand consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining creative and technical quality.
- Clear, collaborative communication with producers, writers, designers, video graphers, and external post-production partners.
- Familiarity with social-video requirements, including vertical, square, portrait, and landscape formats, captions, cutdowns, and platform adaptations.
Preferred, But Not Essential
- Camera-operating experience and practical knowledge of framing, lighting, and clean sound capture.
- Basic motion-graphics or animation skills, including animated supers, kinetic typography, simple transitions, and graphic treatments.
- Familiarity with Photoshop, CapCut, AI-assisted editing tools, or similar tools that improve craft and efficiency.
- Experience in a fast-paced agency environment, managing client feedback, or delivering social, campaign, corporate, and commercial work.
