Description

Video Editor — YouTube (Volleyverse)

Location: Manchester / London
Line Manager: Senior Content Manager

As a YouTube-focused Video Editor at Volleyverse, you’ll take ownership of how our sports stories perform. You’ll craft high-momentum edits with strong hooks in the first few seconds, re-hook at drop-off points, and ensure clean audio and consistent colour grading throughout.

Working in a fast, high-volume workflow, you’ll repurpose long-form content into platform-native short-form, and proactively drive new stories and formats. Using both your technical and story-telling expertise, you’ll help deliver reliable, audience-first content that turns viewership into lasting community. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring editor with sharp instincts to own real work from day one and grow a long-term career in sports and digital media.

About the Role

  • YouTube-native editor with a clear POV on what makes YouTube content work
  • Expert in packaging & retention: hooks in the first 5–15 seconds, built around the retention curve
  • Strong on pacing, cuts for momentum, no dead air, re-hooks at drop-off points
  • Repurposes long-form into platform-native short-form (Shorts, TikTok, Reels).
  • Reads YouTube Studio (AVD, CTR, retention) and iterates off the data
  • Generates format and story ideas, not just executes briefs — creativity is central to this role.
  • Graphics/motion experience ideal — overlays, lower thirds, branded templates
  • Owns all content organisation: footage library, naming, versioning, pipeline
  • Reliable turnaround at volume without quality drop
  • Curious about AI editing tools and keen to explore where they can speed up the workflow with us
  • Significant international travel

Essential Experience

  • Proven YouTube editing experience with growth they contributed to — a channel, not just a showreel
  • Can talk through why a video performed (retention, CTR, packaging)
  • Fluent in a pro NLE (Premiere / DaVinci / Final Cut) with clean audio and colour as standard
  • Short-form repurposing experience across Shorts / TikTok / Reels
  • Organised and reliable at volume — owns their own pipeline

Desired Experience

  • Motion graphics / After Effects — overlays, animated stats, branded templates
  • Thumbnail and title (packaging) instinct
  • Sport or sports-entertainment content background
  • Experience working with on-screen talent
  • Comfortable occasionally flexing to wider business/brand content
