The Video Engineering Manager will also lead and mentor a team of technical professionals, ensuring that operations run smoothly under tight deadlines while maintaining safety and industry standards.

This role will work together with the Camera, Lighting and Audio Managers under studio operations and will report directly to the Lead of Studio Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the entire technical infrastructure of all the studios, including broadcast systems and coordinating with the respective managers on studio lighting, cameras, vision systems, audio equipment, and other production technology. Serve as the technical subject matter expert for productions that vary from studio, feature, events and outdoor broadcasts. Ensure all equipment is set up, maintained, and operated according to the highest industry standards.

Studio Floor Management:

  • Manage the operations of the studio floors, ensuring that the space is fully equipped and configured for various production needs. Oversee the setup and operation of studio equipment during live and recorded productions, ensuring technical workflows run smoothly without disruption. Direct multi-camera studio productions when necessary

Team Leadership & Supervision:

  • Lead a team of technical professionals, including engineers, technicians, and operators. Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to ensure the team is fully equipped to handle daily production challenges and evolving technology needs. Manage scheduling and allocation of manpower within the Video Engineering team. Foster a collaborative and proactive team environment.

Technology Integration & Innovation:

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies that enhance production quality and studio performance. Stay ahead of industry trends, ensuring the studio’s technical capabilities remain future-ready and cutting-edge.

Production Coordination:

  • Work closely with the production team, directors, producers, and other stakeholders to understand technical requirements for each project. Ensure that all technical systems are configured and ready for live or recorded shoots, troubleshooting any potential issues before or during productions.

Maintenance & Equipment Management:

  • Oversee the regular maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of all studio equipment. Ensure that all technical systems are operating optimally, and manage the repair and replacement of equipment as necessary. Establish and enforce best practices for the maintenance and care of technical assets.

Budget & Resource Management:

  • Manage the technical budget, allocating resources efficiently and ensuring that projects remain within financial constraints. Ensure that all studio equipment is purchased, maintained, and upgraded as necessary within budgetary guidelines.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all technical operations and studio activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations. Enforce safe working practices across the studio, particularly on the studio floor, to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment.

Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution:

  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and resolve technical issues that arise during live or pre-recorded productions. Ensure minimal disruption to production timelines, leveraging technical expertise to quickly identify and address challenges.

Vendor & Supplier Coordination:

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers for technical equipment, ensuring timely delivery and support. Negotiate contracts and oversee the performance of suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a senior technical role within a studio or broadcast environment, with a deep understanding of studio floor operations and broadcast technologies.
