Virtualization System Architect

Summary

Design, build, and maintain VMware vCenter/ESXi virtualized environments and VDI solutions for DoD Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems in an onsite Chantilly, VA role.

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Virtualization System Architect to join our team in Chantilly, VA. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and deliver on-premise and hybrid cloud solutions for Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training environments

  • Integrate and deliver computer, networking, and storage solutions for supporting virtual and physical resources.

  • Design, build, configure, and maintain VMware vCenter and ESXi virtualized environments.

  • Create, configure, and manage virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using VMware/Omnissa Horizon View Server and Unified Access Gateway (UAG).

  • Support system accreditation efforts by creating, updating, and maintaining Body of Evidence (BOE) documentation and required security controls.

  • Managing and maintaining system baselines, configuration management items, and vulnerability scanning activities across networks.

  • Troubleshooting physical and virtual hardware, including BIOS configuration, software patching, and HPE server hardware upgrades.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in virtualization systems engineering or information systems security.

  • Experienced with CMMI and Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with IT installation management, with experience in a DoD or DoN context preferred.

  • Experience navigating system accreditation processes and meeting security requirements in complex environments.

  • Extensive hands-on experience managing virtualized compute, networking, and storage infrastructure in enterprise settings.

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex technical and security documentation.

  • Experience in hyper-scale computing environments

  • Security+ CE or similar certification

  • VMware VCP certification or equivalent hyperscale cloud certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as lead position over virtualization design and/or cloud design

  • Experience with coordination and execution of LVC FST standard Fleet training events such as Composite Training Unit Exercises or Task Force Exercise and events, including the execution of BMD exercises.

  • Knowledge and experience in a Fleet Readiness Certification Board Process, with SPAWAR experience preferred.

  • Experience with Git, Ansible, and Terraform in hybrid cloud environments

  • SecurityX or similar IAT Level III certification

  • Hyper-scale cloud architect level certification (Google, AWS, Azure)

  • PMP certification

Clearance Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess an active Top Secret Clearance or higher

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.

  • Candidates need to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other equipment.

  • Candidates frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
