Vision System Engineer
Summary
Designs and integrates machine vision and optical systems for high-precision manufacturing and inspection equipment, covering camera/lens/lighting selection, sub-micron alignment, defect detection, and AOI. Develops algorithms in C++/Python using vision libraries like OpenCV and Halcon.
About the role
We are seeking skilled Machine Vision Engineers to design, develop, and integrate advanced optical and vision systems for high-precision manufacturing and inspection equipment. You will be responsible for sub-micron alignment, defect detection, and automated optical inspection (AOI) to ensure our equipment meets stringent quality and performance standards.
Key responsibilities
Architect hardware and software solutions for machine vision, including camera selection, lens optics, lighting techniques (coaxial, ring, structured light), and sensor integration.
Develop and optimize algorithms for pattern matching, edge detection, sub-pixel measurement, 3D surface profiling, and defect classification.
Implement high-precision hand-eye calibration, camera-to-stage calibration, and real-time closed-loop feedback for motion control systems.
Troubleshoot and enhance vision processing speed, accuracy, and robustness under varying lighting and environmental factory conditions.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to seamlessly integrate vision subsystems into the overall equipment architecture.
About you
Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Robotics, or a related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in machine vision development for automated high-precision equipment (e.g., semiconductor, electronics, or medical device manufacturing).
Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
Deep familiarity with vision libraries such as OpenCV, Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, etc.
Experience with 2D/3D sensors, laser displacement sensors, and hyperspectral imaging.
Understanding of optics, focal lengths, depth of field, and modulation transfer function (MTF).
