Visiting Finance Analyst
About the Role
A fast-growing, Series A/B EdTech company based in Berlin is looking for a Visiting Finance Analyst to join its Finance team on a full-time, on-site basis. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role sitting directly alongside senior leadership — giving you a front-row seat to building a modern finance function from the ground up.
This role is ideal for a student, gap-year candidate, or recent graduate in business, finance, or economics who wants real exposure to financial close, reporting, forecasting, and AI-driven process automation in a high-growth tech environment. No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
What You'll Do
Work directly alongside the Head of Finance as a hands-on contributor and right-hand support across all core finance workstreams.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and coordinate with external auditors.
Contribute to accurate, reliable financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
Assist with operational controlling — including budget planning, financial forecasting, and liquidity tracking.
Build monthly reports, run ad hoc deep-dives, and translate data into clear, decision-ready analysis.
Prepare decision briefs and support cross-functional initiatives with teams such as Growth and Engineering.
Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations.
Help evolve the finance function from static reporting toward dynamic, AI-enhanced financial intelligence.
Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
Professional working proficiency in both German and English (written and spoken) — required.
Foundational knowledge of accounting principles sufficient to support financial close and reporting processes.
Strong Excel skills and experience analyzing financial data to generate reports and inform decisions.
Experience (internship, coursework, or project) supporting month-end, quarter-end, or year-end close, audit coordination, or multi-jurisdiction reporting.
Experience with financial planning tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, or liquidity tracking.
Experience using automation tools, AI applications, or low-code platforms to streamline finance or operational workflows.
Proactive, self-driven, pragmatic mindset with a willingness to take full ownership of workstreams.
Nice-to-haves:
Prior internship or coursework in finance, accounting, controlling, or consulting.
Familiarity with German accounting standards (HGB) or IFRS reporting requirements.
Familiarity with BI or data visualization tools for financial dashboards and reporting.
Experience working in a high-growth startup or technology company.
Interest in AI tools and automation; experience with low-code or BI platforms is a bonus.
