Job Summary
The Visual Screener is responsible for visually inspecting incoming waste or materials before disposal and ensuring that only allowable materials are accepted into the designated disposal area.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections of incoming waste and materials.
- Identify materials that are not permitted for disposal at the site.
- Guide drivers or site personnel when non-allowable materials are detected.
- Prevent unauthorised or prohibited materials from entering the disposal area.
- Escalate uncertain or non-compliant materials to the supervisor for verification.
- Maintain basic screening records and report rejected or unusual materials.
- Observe vehicle movements and maintain a safe distance from moving vehicles.
- Coordinate with traffic marshals, weighbridge operators and site personnel.
- Keep the screening area clear and safe for operations.
- Follow the approved screening procedure and site instructions.
- Comply with workplace safety, health and environmental requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses promptly.
- Perform other related operational duties assigned by the supervisor.
