VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (m/f/d)
Description
VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (m/f/d)
A fully integrated private cloud platform is a key building block of digital sovereignty and the foundation for the resilient and flexible operation of business-critical services. A well-designed architecture is essential to its success: scalable, highly available, secure and tailored to the company’s operational requirements.
This is exactly where you come in as a VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (m/f/d). You combine deep technical expertise with strong consulting skills and take the technical lead in large-scale platform transformations for our customers, from the initial requirements assessment through to a fully operational private cloud.
As the technical lead in the project, you make architectural decisions and ensure that compute, storage, networking and security work seamlessly together. You define domain and cluster designs, plan capacity, availability and disaster recovery, and create high-level and low-level designs. In doing so, you work closely with consultants, project management and our customers’ IT teams.
You take technical responsibility for VCF projects at our customers, lead a team of consultants and work together with our customers to shape the platform strategy from planning through to operations, while staying close to the technical implementation.
About the job:
- You guide our customers through every phase of a platform transformation: from assessing the existing environment and defining requirements to developing the target architecture and supporting the implementation.
- You design end-to-end architectures for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), covering compute, storage and networking as well as automation and lifecycle management.
- You create high-level designs, make and document architecture decisions (ADRs), take responsibility for low-level designs and develop migration concepts whose implementation you support.
- You provide technical leadership to a team of consultants, conduct design reviews to ensure that implementation is delivered on time and to the required technical quality, and represent the results to our customers and Broadcom.
- You work closely with project management and provide technical input on project planning, effort, dependencies and technical risks.
- You bring your consulting experience into presales and support our Solution Sales team with your expertise, technical customer presentations, effort estimates and solution proposals.
- You help shape the VCF community as a thought leader, for example through presentations at the VMware User Group (VMUG), technical articles, webinars or your own event formats.
Who you are:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in Software-Defined Data Centres, including at least 2 years as a Consulting Architect or in a comparable architecture role.
- You have experience working with customers: you independently lead workshops, understand your customers’ business requirements and advise them at eye level, from strategy to implementation.
- You have in-depth knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, vSAN and NSX.
- You have a solid understanding of networking, including routing, overlays and load balancing, as well as storage and security concepts.
- You are confident working with Linux and Windows systems.
- You communicate confidently with both technical and management stakeholders and can convincingly represent architectural decisions.
- You are business fluent in German and English.
It would be optimal, if you...:
- are certified as a VMware Certified Professional or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCP/VCAP).
- have already taken responsibility for architectures for multiple customers, including large-scale or business-critical projects.
- have conducted assessments, health checks and modernisation roadmaps, for example for the transition from vSphere to VCF.
- have experience with VCF Operations and VCF Automation.
- have experience with Kubernetes and multi-cloud scenarios.
- enjoy sharing your knowledge through mentoring, internal training or technical presentations, for example as a VMUG speaker.
Intensive induction and regular training are not just something we do on paper, but are a matter of course for all our employees.
The applicable collective agreement provides for a minimum salary of EUR 64,554.00 gross per year for this full-time position. Depending on your qualifications and experience, we are of course prepared to offer a higher salary.
