Volunteer Driving Mentor
Help a Young Person Gain Independence and Confidence
We are seeking Volunteer Driving Mentors to support young people in achieving their driver's licence and greater independence.
Through the RYDE Program, volunteers provide supervised driving practice to young people who may face barriers to completing the required 50 hours of supervised driving. A customised program vehicle is provided, allowing participants to gain valuable driving experience in a safe and supportive environment.
As a Driving Mentor, you will play an important role in helping young people develop practical driving skills, road confidence, and the knowledge needed to become safe and responsible drivers. Beyond teaching driving skills, you will have the opportunity to build a supportive and encouraging relationship that helps participants achieve a significant personal milestone.
This is a rewarding volunteer role where your time and experience can make a lasting difference in a young person's life.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
Hold a current C Class Driver's Licence and have held it for at least four years
Be patient, supportive, and confident in assisting learner drivers
Have an understanding of the challenges that may be experienced by young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds
Hold a current National Police Clearance
Be willing to complete required volunteer training, including an induction and online orientation program
If you enjoy helping others learn new skills and would like to make a meaningful contribution to your community, we would love to hear from you.
