This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on building and scaling a national health plan growth engine for a fast-growing virtual healthcare business. You will own the payer go-to-market strategy, from market segmentation and pipeline development through complex contracting and expansion. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on selling, giving you direct ownership of high-value payer opportunities. You will build executive relationships across Blues plans and other commercial payers while shaping a scalable sales organization. Success will require strong commercial discipline, deep payer expertise, and the ability to turn early traction into meaningful national growth. You’ll also partner closely with clinical, product, finance, marketing, payer alliances, and commercial operations teams. This is a high-ownership opportunity with 20–25% travel and significant influence over patient access and commercial growth.
Accountabilities:
- Own and define the health plan go-to-market strategy, including target markets, segmentation, pricing, contracting approach, and the roadmap for scaling the payer business nationally.
- Personally lead the most strategic payer opportunities, developing executive relationships and managing complex enterprise sales cycles from initial engagement through contracting and launch.
- Build and expand partnerships with Blue Cross Blue Shield plans and other commercial payers, increasing covered lives, geographic reach, clinical programs, and revenue.
- Own health plan revenue targets and establish the pipeline management, forecasting discipline, performance metrics, and operating cadence required to deliver predictable growth.
- Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing payer sales organization, establishing the processes and sales discipline needed to support rapid expansion.
- Bring market, competitive, and payer insights into the broader business while collaborating with Payer Alliances, Commercial Operations, Clinical, Product, Finance, and Marketing teams to strengthen the offering and accelerate growth.
- Represent the organization externally with payer executives and industry stakeholders, building credibility and positioning the business as a category leader in women’s midlife healthcare.
- Bring 12+ years of progressive experience in payer sales, business development, or strategic partnerships, ideally within health technology, provider services, care delivery, or value-based care.
- Have deep experience selling to health plans, particularly regional Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, with a strong understanding of complex payer organizations and decision-making processes.
- Demonstrate a track record of closing multi-million-dollar payer partnerships and consistently delivering against ambitious revenue goals.
- Combine strategic operating ability with hands-on sales execution, including the willingness and ability to personally drive critical opportunities through to close.
- Have experience taking a payer go-to-market motion from early traction to meaningful scale by building the necessary processes, relationships, pipeline discipline, and teams.
- Bring strong executive presence and the ability to develop multi-threaded relationships with C-level stakeholders across complex organizations.
- Thrive in high-growth environments and demonstrate self-direction, resourcefulness, adaptability, speed, and comfort operating through ambiguity.
- Experience with value-based or risk-aligned healthcare partnerships is strongly preferred.
- Be passionate about improving healthcare for women and motivated by the opportunity to expand access to better care for women in midlife.
- Be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship needs.
- Annual salary of $220,000–$284,000, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, and qualifications.
- Eligibility for additional compensation, including equity and benefits.
- Opportunity to build a category-defining healthcare business and directly influence patient access and commercial growth.
- High ownership of a critical growth channel, with the opportunity to take an established foundation toward national scale.
- Collaboration with a mission-driven, high-performing team working across the United States.
- Opportunity to build and lead a payer sales organization while shaping go-to-market strategy, commercial processes, and long-term growth.
- Remote, U.S.-based role with approximately 20–25% travel.
- Mission-driven environment focused on improving how healthcare serves women during midlife.
