Description

GIC is a leading global investment firm established in 1981 to manage Singapore's foreign reserves. As a disciplined, long-term investor, we invest across a wide range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate and infrastructure, with investments in over 40 countries. Headquartered in Singapore, we have 11 offices in key financial cities worldwide.

Technology Group

Our Technology Group (TG) builds and runs the technology behind GIC's investment and corporate activities. Within TG, Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Engineering designs, engineers and operates the networks, hosting platforms and security services that keep GIC secure, resilient and ready for the future.

About the team

The Network Services & Automation team runs the shared services and engineering platforms that every other network team depends on: DNS, DHCP and IPAM, device AAA, the network management plane, monitoring and observability, and the network automation platform.

What impact can you make in this role?

As a Network Services & Automation Engineer, you will own GIC's core network services and the platforms behind how the network is built, changed and observed. You will make these services highly available and secure, and build the source of truth, automation and observability that let every network engineer deliver change safely and quickly.

What will you do as a VP, Network Services & Automation Engineer?

  • Own GIC's DDI services (enterprise DNS for internal, external and hybrid resolution, DHCP and IPAM), including architecture, resilience, DNS security controls and platform lifecycle on platforms such as Infoblox or equivalent.
  • Own network device AAA: TACACS+ and RADIUS services, role-based access and command authorisation, integration with privileged access management and identity platforms, and NAC platform lifecycle where the platform is shared.
  • Engineer the network management plane: out-of-band access, NTP, syslog, SNMP and streaming telemetry collection, configuration backup and secure management connectivity.
  • Design and run the network observability stack (monitoring, streaming telemetry, flow analytics, synthetic testing and packet capture / brokering) across data centre, WAN, campus, cloud and AWS Outposts, providing the dashboards and alerting Network Operations uses.
  • Build and run the network automation platform: a network source of truth (e.g., NetBox or equivalent), Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform, Git repositories and CI/CD pipelines with pre-change validation and testing.
  • Deliver configuration compliance and drift detection against gold-standard baselines, and automate evidence for audit and regulatory reporting.
  • Set engineering standards for network code (repository structure, peer review, testing and secrets handling) and coach engineers across the pillar to contribute safely.
  • Evaluate and integrate tooling vendors, manage platform capacity and lifecycle, and act as the senior escalation point for DNS, DHCP, AAA and tooling incidents.
  • Hand services and platform changes over to Network Operations against agreed acceptance criteria, and build the handover checklist (monitoring, runbooks, as-built data) into the shared pipeline for all four roles.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Typically 8+ years in network engineering or network platform roles, including at least 3 years owning enterprise DDI services and/or network automation platforms.
  • Strong enterprise networking experience across routing, switching and security in multi-vendor estates, broad enough to work credibly with every network domain and to automate it safely.
  • Deep hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP and IPAM at enterprise scale (e.g., Infoblox, BlueCat, EfficientIP or BIND) and with TACACS+/RADIUS services (e.g., Cisco ISE).
  • Strong automation skills in Ansible (playbooks, roles, Jinja2), Python, Git and CI/CD, including experience with a network source of truth.
  • Experience designing monitoring and observability for multi-vendor networks (SNMP, gNMI / streaming telemetry, NetFlow / IPFIX, syslog) using commercial and open-source tooling.
  • A product mindset: you treat internal engineers as customers and measure the adoption and reliability of the platforms you run.

Nice to have

  • CCNP / CCIE Automation (formerly DevNet), Red Hat Ansible certification or DDI vendor certifications.
  • Experience with pre-change validation and network testing tools (e.g., Batfish, pyATS) and policy-as-code.
  • Experience in financial services, with familiarity with MAS TRM requirements for access control and logging.

What success looks like in your first 12 months?

  • DNS, DHCP and AAA services have documented architecture, tested resilience and agreed service levels, with no single points of failure.
  • A network source of truth and automation pipeline are in production and used by all network engineering teams, with configuration drift measured and trending down.
  • Network Operations has observability coverage across DC, WAN, campus, cloud and AWS Outposts, with alert noise reduced and audit evidence generated automatically.
  • A standard handover checklist runs in the pipeline and is used by all network engineering teams, with Operations sign-off recorded automatically

Why join us?

  • Work on technology that helps safeguard Singapore's reserves for future generations.
  • Own meaningful problems at enterprise scale, with the autonomy to shape how they are solved.
  • Join a collaborative team that values technical depth, continuous learning and doing things properly.
