The Vice President of Procurement is responsible for setting and executing an enterprise-wide procurement strategy that ensures the efficient, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing of goods and services to support the company’s business objectives. This role provides strategic leadership across all major spend categories, with particular focus on high-impact materials such as solvents, containers, and related services, while driving supplier performance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the procurement function.

Essential Functions

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company’s operational, financial, and growth objectives.
  • Build a deep understanding of the company’s business model, operating segments, and functional needs to serve as a trusted strategic partner to internal stakeholders.
  • Establish strong, collaborative relationships with executive leaders and functional managers to ensure procurement strategies support business priorities and operational requirements.
  • Serve as a visible leader and advocate for best-in-class procurement practices across the organization.

Sourcing, Supplier Management & Negotiation

  • Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies across all major spend categories, with emphasis on solvents, containers, container lids, and related services.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and serve as the senior-level interface for critical vendors.
  • Lead high-value negotiations and complex commercial agreements to secure optimal pricing, terms, service levels, and risk protections.
  • Forecast market and pricing trends to proactively manage supplier risk, cost volatility, and shifts in buyer-supplier dynamics.
  • Oversee and lead Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to identify and onboard partners that deliver maximum value, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Systems, Analytics & Governance

  • Provide executive oversight and accountability for the Coupa procurement and expense management system, including procurement requests, invoice approvals, and system optimization.
  • Establish and monitor key procurement metrics and dashboards to track spend, cost savings, supplier performance, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Implement and maintain robust vendor KPI reporting and performance management processes.
  • Ensure procurement policies, procedures, and controls support a disciplined, compliant, and scalable procurement organization.

Risk, Compliance & Operational Oversight

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply continuity, regulatory exposure, safety, and vendor dependency.
  • Ensure sourcing activities meet all applicable service, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements within a highly regulated operating environment.
  • Oversee material volume planning and delivery timing to support uninterrupted operations across facilities.
  • Represent procurement leadership during audits, risk reviews, and enterprise governance initiatives as needed.

Other Duties

  • Lead, develop, and mentor procurement talent and build scalable capabilities to support long-term organizational growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost control, and supplier value creation.

Education & Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required
  • 12+ years of progressive procurement or sourcing experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide procurement strategy, category management, and supplier optimization initiatives
  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation across complex supply chains
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, cost modeling, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis
  • Deep knowledge of sourcing, contracting, vendor management, and procurement best practices
  • Experience implementing or optimizing procurement systems (e.g., ERP, eProcurement tools such as SAP, Oracle, Coupa, or Ariba)
  • Ability to influence and partner with executive leadership, cross-functional stakeholders, and external suppliers
  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience building and developing high-performing procurement teams
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards related to procurement activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) or advanced business education strongly preferred

Work Environment: While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors in an office setting and may be required to sit for long periods. Individual will be required to regularly talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is generally quiet.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $175,000.00 - $225,000.00, and includes benefits such as the following:
