VP, Portfolio Analytics & Reporting

Dalio Family Office

Dalio Family Office Overview:

The Dalio Family Office (DFO) supports Barbara and Ray Dalio and their family in their ventures, investments, and philanthropic efforts under Dalio Philanthropies, which includes OceanX, Dalio Education, Endless Network, and the Beijing Dalio Foundation. The core of the DFO’s culture is built around meaningful work and meaningful relationships and the family’s commitment to giving back. The office is headquartered in Westport, CT with regional offices in New York City, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi.

Position Summary:

The VP, Portfolio Analytics & Reporting will define how the institution sees, measures, and communicates the performance of its entire investment portfolio – across public markets, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and alternatives. This position will build and maintain a world-class reporting and analytics function from the ground up with direct visibility to the Board, Trustees, and senior leadership. This is a senior role for a builder and a shaper: someone who combines deep technical expertise in investment performance methodology with the executive presence to discuss complex analytics to the institution's most senior stakeholders, and the engineering mindset to automate and scale everything they build. Aside from running reports this position will define how the institution thinks about performance, risk, and portfolio construction for years to come. This role requires regular in-office presence.

Day-to-day responsibilities would include a combination of the following:

  • Own and maintain the institution's investment position and performance reporting methodology and governance documentation across public and private investments
  • Oversee daily, monthly, and quarterly position and performance reporting across all asset classes and strategies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
  • Maintain automated data pipelines, calculation engines, validation frameworks, and report generation workflows eliminating manual processes through a version-controlled Python codebase
  • Own the attribution framework for public market strategies, including notional and duration adjustments on assets, weighted market return attribution, error term decomposition
  • Own private markets reporting across all private asset classes — including private equity, venture capital, real estate, and private credit — and across strategy types (funds and directs), managing the full data collection cycle from partners (GPs, management teams, sponsors) through consolidated reporting in partnership with the privates team
  • Own private markets cash flow and commitment reporting, encompassing capital calls, distributions, unfunded and remaining commitments, and recallable capital across funds and co-investments
  • Oversee partnerships and vendor relationships with third-party data collection, portfolio data management, and benchmark providers across private and public markets, and ensuring adoption of best-in-class AI integration and tools
  • Manage and optimize reporting that integrates private markets data into broader total-portfolio analytics, including liquidity forecasting, commitment pacing, vintage-year diversification, J-curve impact, and exposure & probing monitoring machine analysis with continuous automation and systematization
  • Maintain and enhance private investments monitoring reporting, including ingestion, analysis, and synthesis of recurring questionnaires, GP letters, valuation materials, and supplementary data sourced from documents and meetings with best-in-class AI integration
  • Provide the investment team and senior leadership with ongoing visibility into geographic exposure, factor concentrations, risk metrics, and portfolio construction characteristics across public and private assets
  • Oversee pre-tax and after-tax performance reporting, collaborating across investment, accounting, tax, and operations teams to ensure data completeness and methodological alignment
  • Own regulatory compliance reporting, and oversee pre- and post-trade compliance monitoring within the OMS including position limit surveillance and breach escalation
  • Support the Valuation Committee with quarterly private asset valuation reviews and ensure ongoing alignment with GIPS 2020 and CFA Institute Standards
  • Participate in meetings and be a thought partner across all other functions within the Portfolio Construction function
  • Additional duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, attributes, and values:

  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity across a highly collaborative environment
  • Strong ability to synthesize information well
  • Expertise in public and private markets
  • Experience with pre/post-trade compliance systems and regulatory reporting
  • Experience with private market valuation, confidence tiering and proxy-based NAV estimation

Illustrative Benefits:

  • 100% company paid medical premiums
  • 17 company paid holidays
  • Friday summer hours
  • Monthly community happy hours
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Free catered food services for in-office days

  • Casual dress code
  • 150% 401(k) match up to $7,500 and 100% match above $7,500 ($15k match limit)
  • Gym reimbursement, back up childcare services, insurance, financial, and legal services, and much more!

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in investment performance reporting, or a related field within an institutional asset owner, asset manager, hedge fund, or fund administrator
  • Production-quality Python and demonstrable experience building automated data pipelines, calculation engines, and reporting systems
  • Experience working with multi-custodian data environments and complex automated data pipelines
  • Familiarity with GIPS 2020 and CFA Institute Standards of Professional Conduct
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, computer science, or a related field
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 10% of the time
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • CFA charter holder and/or CIPM designation
    • Prior experience at a family office, endowment, sovereign wealth fund, or similarly complex institutional asset owner
