Key Responsibilities:

Treasury & Liquidity

  • Own the daily cash position, short and long-term cash forecasting, and liquidity management across all entities, bank accounts, and locations.
  • Manage banking relationships, account structure, signatories, and bank portal administration; serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the company's lenders.
  • Own debt compliance: covenant calculations and certificates, borrowing-base and construction-draw packages, and the lender reporting calendar.
  • Administer payment channels — ACH, wires, positive pay, and card programs — and the controls that protect them, including segregation of duties and fraud prevention.
  • Build treasury infrastructure that scales with the footprint: cash concentration for new and acquired locations, daily deposit and ACH matching, and store-level cash accountability.
  • Provide treasury support for capital structure work and financing transactions as directed by the CFO.

Tax

  • Own the company's tax calendar and compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions; coordinating external advisors on the income tax provision, returns, and partner reporting.
  • Own multi-state sales and use tax end to end: registrations, filings, exemption management, nexus monitoring, and the Avalara environment.
  • Own property tax, including renditions, assessment review, and the active appeal of real estate and personal property assessments across the footprint — engaging outside consultants where the return justifies it.
  • Manage business licensing, 1099 / W-9 reporting, unclaimed property, and the other regulatory filings that follow a multi-state operating footprint.
  • Advise on the tax consequences of new builds, acquisitions, entity formation, and structuring decisions; maintain entity and registration records.
  • Monitor legislative and rate changes affecting the footprint and quantify the impact for the CFO.

Fixed Assets & Capital Accounting

  • Own the fixed asset subledger end to end: capitalization policy, asset tagging and classification, useful lives, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and impairment review.
  • Own construction-in-progress accounting for new builds, remodels, and acquisitions — job cost tracking, draw packages, capitalized interest, and timely placed-in-service dating.
  • Own the lien waiver and release process: conditional and unconditional waivers tied to draws and vendor payments, and clean release at project close.
  • Reconcile capital spend to the approved CapEx budget and report actual-to-budget by project, with variance explanation to the CFO and the Board.
  • Coordinate cost segregation studies and own the resulting book-to-tax fixed asset differences.
  • Partner with Construction, Development, and Operations so that projects close on the books when they close in the field.

Assurance, Controls & Audit Readiness

  • Serve as the primary liaison to the external auditors — owning the Prepared by Client process, the workpapers, and the timeline — and to lender and investor diligence requests.
  • Design, document, and test the internal control environment over the areas this role does not itself operate, in partnership with the Controller; escalate deficiencies and track remediation to closure.
  • Build and run a recurring site cash and field controls testing program across the footprint.
  • Establish the company's accounting policy library and maintain technical position papers on significant judgments.
  • Prepare the organization for an independent Internal Audit function.

Cross-Functional & Automation

  • Partner with the Controller on the close and with FP&A on cash, capital, and tax forecasting inputs.
  • Deploy AI agents and automation across treasury, tax, and fixed-asset workflows — daily bank reconciliation and ACH matching, sales-tax preparation, covenant monitoring, and fixed-asset and depreciation schedules — under a draft-then-human-approval model with a complete audit trail.
  • Support the ERP evaluation and implementation from the treasury, tax, and fixed-asset requirements side.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA required.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience spanning tax, treasury, and technical accounting, including 4+ years owning a function or leading a team.
  • Demonstrated ownership of multi-state tax compliance in a multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction environment.
  • Hands-on treasury experience: bank administration, cash forecasting, covenant compliance, and lender reporting.
  • Working command of fixed asset and construction-in-progress accounting in a capital-intensive business.
  • Experience serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors and for lender or investor diligence.
  • Strong systems and process orientation; proficiency with ERP, tax and treasury platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in Accounting, MBA, CTP (Certified Treasury Professional), or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor).
  • Multi-unit retail, hospitality, or service-industry experience with an active new-build program.
  • Private-equity-backed environment; experience supporting a refinancing, sale-leaseback, capital raise, or transaction diligence.
  • Property tax appeal experience and familiarity with cost segregation.
  • Familiarity with Sage, Avalara, VersaPay, and Ramp, or comparable systems; ERP selection or implementation experience a plus.
  • Interest in applying AI and automation to finance, accounting and audit operations.

Benefits

  • Career advancement opportunities – A job that grows with you, we promote our great team members
  • On-site & continual training and development
  • Paid Time Off beginning from the day you start
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision, and pet insurance
  • Plan for your future with 401K contribution options
