VS01701 - Database & Data Platform Engineer
Summary
Administers and supports enterprise database and data platforms day to day: installing, patching and tuning databases (SQL Server or SAP HANA), managing backups, HA/DR and migrations across AWS/Azure/GCP, and automating operations with scripting and IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Administer and support enterprise database and data platforms.
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching and performance tuning.
- Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Manage backup, recovery, capacity and database lifecycle activities.
- Support database migration and modernization initiatives across cloud environments.
- Automate database administration and operational activities using scripting and IaC tools.
- Monitor database health, performance and availability.
- Troubleshoot database incidents and perform root cause analysis.
- Support containerized and cloud-native database environments.
- Work with engineering teams on database architecture and platform optimization.
- Support data ingestion, ETL/ELT and scalable data processing requirements where applicable.
- Maintain operational documentation and database runbooks.
Mandatory Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Database Engineering, DBA, Data Platform Engineering or Database DevOps.
- Strong experience with at least one enterprise database platform such as Microsoft SQL Server or SAP HANA .
- Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring.
- Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, HA and DR.
- Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Strong SQL knowledge.
- Experience with Linux/Windows administration depending on the database platform.
- Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash or Shell scripting.
- Knowledge of automation/IaC using Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Experience in production database support and incident management.
Good-to-have Skills
- Databricks and modern data engineering platforms.
- Hadoop/Cloudera, HBase or Hive.
