Vulnerability Assessment Analyst

Description:

Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Vulnerability Assessment Analyst to support enterprise vulnerability management and continuous monitoring activities across customer environments. This role is responsible for maintaining vulnerability scanning infrastructure, conducting security assessments, analyzing findings, and partnering with stakeholders to drive remediation efforts that strengthen overall security posture. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys hands-on cybersecurity operations, vulnerability analysis, and problem-solving within dynamic enterprise environments.

This position offers a unique schedule, with a few hours worked during weekday afternoons/evenings and a regular shift on Saturdays and Sundays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Tenable Security Center and Nessus infrastructure across Linux and Windows environments, including software installation, upgrades, patching, and server maintenance.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, continuous monitoring activities, and security scans across enterprise assets using Tenable Security Center, Nessus, and ACAS technologies.
  • Configure and maintain scan policies, audit files, asset inventories, and assessment configurations to ensure comprehensive vulnerability coverage.
  • Analyze scan results, identify vulnerabilities, assess risk, and generate detailed reports and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Perform vulnerability mitigation activities using DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and other security compliance frameworks.
  • Support Linux, Windows, networking, and system administration activities related to vulnerability management, patch deployment, and security hardening.
  • Track remediation efforts, validate corrective actions, and collaborate with security teams, system administrators, and other stakeholders to reduce risk and improve compliance.
  • Communicate security findings, trends, and potential risks to technical and non-technical audiences while maintaining accurate vulnerability and remediation records.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with eleven (11) years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise vulnerability management and assessment platforms such as Tenable Security Center, Nessus, ACAS, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs, Tenable Audit Files, CIS Benchmarks, vulnerability remediation processes, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, Windows administration, networking, patch management, and system configuration.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment methodologies, risk analysis, and enterprise security operations.
  • Experience independently managing assessments, investigations, and remediation efforts from start to finish.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings and security risks to a variety of stakeholders.
