About the Role

The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for the day-to-day management of the warehouse, yard, equipment, tools, materials, and vehicle fleet. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for all inventory and company assets, ensuring everything that enters, leaves, or moves within company locations is accurately tracked and documented. The Warehouse Clerk maintains organized inventory systems that support field operations and ensure crews have the materials and equipment they need to complete projects efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all warehouse and yard operations, ensuring materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles are properly logged, tracked, and accounted for.
  • Pick, stage, and prepare materials, tools, and supplies for field crews before scheduled work assignments.
  • Maintain inventory using established minimum/maximum stock levels and proactively replenish inventory to prevent shortages and project delays.
  • Receive incoming materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all receiving and inventory transactions are accurately recorded in the company's accounting or inventory management system.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair schedules for company vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment, including inspections, registrations, and routine service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse and yard environment.
  • Track equipment and vehicle assignments to projects and crews, ensuring all assets are returned, inspected, and documented after use.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory counts, equipment condition, maintenance history, and asset locations.
  • Identify low inventory levels, aging equipment, damaged tools, or maintenance needs before they impact project schedules.
  • Enforce company procedures for inventory control and asset accountability by ensuring all employees follow established check-in/check-out processes.
  • Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, fleet management, equipment management, or a related field.
  • Construction, contracting, industrial, manufacturing, or field service experience preferred.
  • Experience using QuickBooks or comparable inventory/accounting software.
  • Ability to manage physical inventory and coordinate equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a warehouse and outdoor yard environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions when working outdoors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing or maintaining a minimum/maximum inventory management system.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of vehicle, trailer, and equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with barcode, asset tracking, or inventory management systems.
