Warehouse Clerk

Summary: Duties include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following activities -- providing clerical support, reporting, scheduling, auditing, research and/or training for one or more areas of general warehouse operations. Within each area of responsibility, Warehouse Clerk must meet the company's quality, productivity, security, and safety standards. Work may require experience, training and/or specialized skills not required in Warehouse Associate roles. Warehouse Clerks periodically must exercise decision making skills to interpreting reports, developing schedules, researching issues, etc. Warehouse Clerks may also interact with outside vendors.

Essential Functions: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position:

Assist with production planning for warehouse.

  • Auditing of outbound orders
  • Establish database of pertinent information for use in analyzing future production planning and forecasting.
  • Compile productivity and weekly labor data into excel spreadsheets.
  • Analyze historical information to determine past, present and future performance.
  • Conduct special studies to analyze information pertaining to warehouse operations including and prepares reports.
  • Gathers information for departmental reports including hourly productivity
  • Tracks, charts and creates reports on department activity
  • Researches and resolve inventory variances
  • Schedules loads for delivery or pick up
  • Prints shipping documents
  • Interacts with outside truck drivers
  • Maintains truck placement or door assignments
  • Researches and answers complex problems
  • Performs maintenance to product data files (title, author, binding, price, ISBN)
  • Reconciles exceptions, detects and corrects errors
  • Performs all job functions within the department as required
  • Performs duties and responsibilities following established procedures and using assigned equipment

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Other duties may be assigned, directed or requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Office experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules as required which may include working off shifts and weekends
  • Able to perform essential duties at a fixed computer station

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Business and/or Accounting desirable
  • Proficiency in English, both oral and written communication
  • At least 1 year experience utilizing a warehouse management system.
  • Ability to multi-task

Physical Requirements: The requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Must be able to sit or stand up to 6 hours in a day.
  • Will continuously reach up and out.
  • Will occasionally climb.
  • Will occasionally push/pull from 10-25 pounds.
  • Will frequently bend, stoop, reach up and out, crouch, kneel, and push/pull from 25-50 pounds.
  • Will occasionally have repetitive foot movement.
  • Will frequently have repetitive hand/arm movements for simple reaching, simple and firm grasping and/or fine hand manipulation.
  • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hand to finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to wear PPE

Language Skills:

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to speak with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate and work with the public
  • Ability to write routine reports

Mathematical Skills:

  • Must be proficient in mathematics
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • The work performed is in an office and factory environment
  • The employee is frequently exposed to dust and will be working around moving machinery
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, team environment
