Inventory Specialist
Hood Container Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Warehouse/Inventory Specialist to join our Packaging Solutions plant in Palmyra, PA. This role is critical to ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient material flow, and support for production and warehouse operations. Will works closely with Production to ensure material flows efficiently throughout the facility. The role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving & Material Handling
- Receive incoming trailers and verify that materials received match the applicable bills of lading, packing lists or PO.
- Inspect incoming materials for quantity, identification, and obvious discrepancies or damage and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
- Pick and stage materials required to support production schedules and line requirements.
- Ensure materials picked for production are accurate and delivered to the appropriate production area in a timely manner.
- Verify trailer contents and supporting documentation to ensure received materials correspond with billing and shipment information.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the production and warehouse management systems.
- Investigate missing, misplaced, damaged, or incorrectly recorded inventory and coordinate corrective action.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages, excess inventory, or other material concerns to the appropriate teams.
Production Support
- Pick and deliver materials to production lines based on production requirements and established priorities.
- Monitor material usage and return unused materials to designated warehouse locations following production runs.
- Ensure finished goods are properly identified, counted, staged, and transferred to the appropriate warehouse location.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and material-handling requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, material hazards, and other safety concerns promptly.
- Support a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, manufacturing, production support, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of inventory control and warehouse processes.
- Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter and retrieve information from inventory or warehouse management systems.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations involving quantities, counts, and inventory adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an assembly, packaging, or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification or previous experience operating material-handling equipment.
- Experience conducting cycle counts and physical inventories.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk regularly bend, stoop, reach, and climb as required to perform warehouse and inventory activities.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials consistent with the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and equipment activity.
- Ability to safely operate or work around forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
