Position Summary

The Material Handler / Loader / Receiver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, finished goods, and packaging supplies throughout the facility. This position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring production lines are supplied with materials, receiving inbound shipments, verifying inventory accuracy, and loading outbound trucks according to shipping schedules. The role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and inventory control.

Essential Responsibilities

Manufacturing Line Support

  • Deliver raw materials, packaging materials, and components to production lines in a timely manner.
  • Monitor production floor inventory levels and replenish materials as needed to prevent downtime.
  • Remove finished goods and waste materials from production areas.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of manufacturing and warehouse areas.
  • Ensure all Hoppers, Trash cans, Scrap is disposed of properly.
  • Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, and production support needs to supervisors.
  • Filling in on the Manufacturing lines when available, for Job Rotation, Staffing needs.

Receiving Responsibilities

  • Receive and unload incoming trucks and deliveries.
  • Verify received materials against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
  • Inspect incoming products for damage, quality issues, and quantity accuracy.
  • Properly label, stage, and store inventory in designated warehouse locations.
  • Report damaged shipments, shortages, and inventory discrepancies.

Shipping and Loading Responsibilities

  • Prepare orders for shipment according to customer and company requirements.
  • Load outbound trucks safely and efficiently while ensuring proper product protection.
  • Verify shipment contents, quantities, and shipping documentation.
  • Secure loads to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Coordinate with drivers and transportation personnel regarding loading schedules.

Inventory Control

  • Perform inventory transactions using warehouse management systems, scanners, or ERP systems.
  • Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and location control.
  • Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory procedures when applicable.

Safety and Compliance

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safely.
  • Follow all OSHA, company safety, and warehouse procedures.
  • Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse, manufacturing, material handling, shipping, or receiving experience.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Basic math and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, work orders, and inventory records.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Forklift certification.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP software.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory control best practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 90 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and manufacturing environments with changing temperatures and noise levels.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and warehouse equipment for extended periods.
