The Warehouse & Logistics Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the warehouse while serving as a hands-on leader committed to safety, organization, inventory accuracy, and operational excellence. This position oversees warehousing, inventory control, shipping, material handling, transportation coordination, and warehouse equipment management.
This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of finished goods while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment. The ideal candidate is a working supervisor with strong leadership abilities, excellent computer skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement. This individual will also serve as the primary point of contact for warehouse material handling equipment and will develop expertise in shipping systems, customs documentation, and logistics processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily warehouse operations while actively working alongside the warehouse team.
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of finished goods.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, reconciliations, and inventory control best practices.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, and other required paperwork.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments while learning and preparing customs documentation for export shipments.
- Develop and maintain shipping system processes, including pick list setup and shipping documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound freight to support customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure trucks are loaded safely, accurately, and efficiently while verifying shipment accuracy.
- Work closely with Production, Customer Service, Sales, Purchasing, and Planning to ensure timely material flow and customer deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse through strong housekeeping and 5S principles.
- Monitor warehouse performance and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, productivity, and inventory accuracy.
- Train, coach, mentor, and develop warehouse personnel while holding employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, and performance expectations.
- Assist with employee scheduling, workload balancing, and daily work assignments.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes as needed.
- Promote a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Warehouse Equipment & Facility Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all warehouse material handling equipment and warehouse-related operational assets.
- Oversee the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance coordination of:
- Forklifts
- Pallet jacks
- Dock doors
- Dock levelers
- Dock locks
- Warehouse racking systems
- Other material handling equipment
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and vendor service for warehouse equipment.
- Maintain equipment inspection logs, maintenance records, and required documentation.
- Partner with Maintenance and outside vendors to minimize equipment downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Conduct routine warehouse and dock safety inspections while proactively identifying and correcting hazards.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and operational improvements to improve safety and efficiency.
- Support compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies related to warehouse operations and powered industrial equipment.
