Warehouse Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Warehouse Manager will be responsible to ensure the proper handling of our customers' equipment and/or belongings. Our customers range from household goods to commercial/industrial, and distribution projects. The expectations of this position require a physical hands-on approach within the warehouses and the office. This position reports directly to the General Manager however takes direction from local dispatch.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Managing daily warehousing activities, scheduling warehouse workforce, and working closely with local dispatch in order to accomplish daily workload.
- Training and supervising the warehouse staff.
- Coordinating all dock activity, assigning warehouse employees to appropriate tasks and monitoring progress throughout the day and assisting crew, as required, to complete tasks.
- Loading and unloading of trucks
- Planning for the peak season workloads and hiring additional staff as necessary with the General Manager's approval.
- Ensuring that the warehouse workforce receives any specialized training required of the job.
- Developing a spirit of cooperation and understanding among the work group.
- Coordinating the warehouse activity with the office staff by:
- Acknowledging all inbound/outbound shipments with local dispatch and/or customer service.
- Completing paperwork to include Riders and other piece count verifications to assure accuracy prior to returning documents.
- Properly identifying all items stored within the building
General Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must pass a drug test.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
- Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the strength, stamina, and mobility for heavy physical work.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous warehouse experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the moving industry and DOT regulations.
- Forklift certification required or ability to complete forklift training and operate machinery safely per company protocol.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
