Primary Job Function: Directly responsible for all aspects of distribution and operations for the Leviat distribution warehouse. Manage and coordinate all warehouse and shipping office activities and staff to ensure conformance to established procedures. Leads team and ensures accuracy in inventory, receiving and distribution of goods. Ensures customer focus through coordination with sales team, supply chain, and manufacturing.
Essential Job Duties:
- Conducts work in compliance with the local and regional safety guidelines to coordinate the procedures required for compliance with company, OSHA and state regulations. Promotes a safe workplace.
- Manages all warehouse personnel in accordance with company policies by hiring, training, and motivating, planning and directing work, managing performance and resolving associate issues so that assigned performance targets are met or exceeded.
- Reviews, modifies and implements all department processes, policies and procedures.
- Promptly respond via phone, fax, mail and /or e-mail in a timely and courteous manner to internal/external customers.
- Reviews picking lists/sales orders to schedule shipments to meet delivery dates and plan efficient and cost-effective operations that meet customers’ needs and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee receiving, unpacking and examining of incoming shipments; reject damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Stores, tags and accounts for all inventory.
- Promptly and professionally servicing will-call customers.
- Organizes and maintains accurate records and metrics; audits as necessary.
- Performs regularly scheduled physical inventories; provides inventory reports.
- Operate Forklift truck to load and unload trucks.
- Maintaining cleanliness and neatness of warehouse and yard areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years previous experience in logistics/distribution
- Technical background with experience in customer service
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required
- Strong inventory skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of warehouse operations best practices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills/detail orientated
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions
- Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
- Bilingual a plus
- Forklift qualified
Analysis and Problem Solving: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Decision Making: Referring to state and federal regulations and Company policies, the incumbent is expected to make basic day-to-day decisions and take-action as needed. Works under limited supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Environment:
Work usually takes place in a warehouse where temperatures are cool and hot and noise level can be moderate to high. The balance of work is in an office setting. (Warehouse 80% office 20%) Some travel may be required to attend meetings, training sessions, and make presentations. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
Physical demands:
Sitting, standing, and walking are required. Some duties require bending, stooping, crouching, pulling, and/or pushing. May exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally.
Visual demands:
Average visual acuity is necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate business office machinery. Frequent reading/close-up vision required.
Auditory demands:
The typical noise level for this position is moderate to high, due to printers, and light traffic in office as well as forklift and trucking in warehouses. Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Repetitive motions:
Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and fingers. Examples include actions such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. Continuous operation of computer, telephone and forklift.
