Warehouse Operations Manager

The Warehouse Oerations Manager is responsible and accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Monitor and manage warehouse team’s productivity by preparing, reviewing and/or reviewing warehouse performance KPI’s and communicating department goals.
  • Provide day-today guidance and oversight of the warehouse workers; actively work to promote and recognize performance.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training warehouse employees; appraising performance; rewarding and counselling; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manage and maintain all warehouse related safety program, meetings, records including forklift safety. Ensure a clean and safe warehouse environment at al times.
  • Monitor operational expenses of the warehouse ensuring activities and expenses are within budget, planned and approved.
  • Responsible for selection, development and management of third-party vendor contracts (within approved DOA) for the Houston facility. This includes rate and service reviews, performance management and adherence to relevant compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with operations on shared projects and company goals
  • Attend required meetings to understand and participate in business strategy to assess the impact to warehouse operations.
  • Establish and maintain export processes required for a bonded warehouse

Selection Criteria Essential

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within a warehouse environment including a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Warehouse Manager preferably with a Freight Forwarder and bonded warehouse.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with working in a warehouse.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work safely and conduct safety meeting as required.
  • Is certified and able to safely operate a lift truck.
  • High level customer service skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Advanced reading, writing and mathematics skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate (verbally and intuitively) effectively with both customers and Pentagon staff. Including all levels of management. Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications / Licenses

  • Maintain Current unrestricted Texas drivers’ licence and acceptable driving record.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Pass TSA Background Check
  • Able to wear all PPE as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Working Conditions/ Physical Demands

  • Tolerant and able to work in various weather conditions including temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit and below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Regularly required to move objects exceeding 50lbs, including push, pull, lift and reach.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time.
  • Vision abilities required include close-up vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
