Are you a reliable, hands-on and motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment? We are looking for a Warehouse Operative to join our team in Aberdeen and play an important role in supporting our warehouse and wider freight forwarding activities.

In this varied role, you will be responsible for the safe receipt, handling, storage and dispatch of customers’ cargo, ensuring that all movements are accurately recorded in our computer-based warehouse systems. Attention to detail, a proactive approach and a strong commitment to safety are essential to delivering an efficient and reliable service to our customers.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect and record incoming cargo, checking quantities and condition and reporting any shortages, damage or discrepancies.
  • Record cargo receipts, storage locations, movements and dispatches accurately in computer-based warehouse systems.
  • Pick, pack, consolidate and prepare cargo for onward shipment in accordance with operational instructions.
  • Load and unload vehicles, containers and other transport equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean, tidy, organised and safe warehouse and yard.
  • Carry out routine checks on forklifts and other warehouse equipment, reporting defects promptly.
  • Deal professionally with customers, suppliers, drivers and visitors.
  • Follow company Health & Safety, quality, security and operational procedures.

About our Aberdeen operation

Our Aberdeen operation supports a broad range of logistics activities, including warehousing, pick and pack, materials management, domestic transport, sea and air freight, and project shipping. What we're looking for

You are comfortable combining the physical handling of freight with the accurate recording of cargo movements in our computer systems. You will take pride in working safely, maintaining reliable records and helping the warehouse and wider operation run smoothly. A positive, flexible attitude and a willingness to support colleagues are important. The successful candidate have good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You should be able to use your initiative, adapt to changing operational requirements and contribute positively to a busy logistics environment.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Forklift licence and previous forklift experience.
  • Experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Experience in the oil & gas, energy or industrial sectors.
  • Experience handling industrial, project or offshore-related cargo.
  • Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Full UK driving licence, which may be required for certain collection and delivery duties.

What we offer

At Blue Water Shipping, you will become part of an informal working environment with experienced colleagues and a strong focus on cooperation, responsibility and professional development.

  • Permanent, full-time employment - Monday to Friday working 37,5 hours 08.30 -17.00
  • Company pension scheme, subject to scheme rules
  • Payment or time off in lieu for approved additional/out-of-hours work, in accordance with company policy
  • 25 days annual leave plus applicable public holidays
  • Bupa private healthcare, subject to eligibility and company policy
