Warehouse-Shipping & Receiving Manager
Position Overview
The Warehouse Manager is the individual responsible for overseeing all activities related to the shipping of customer orders, including receiving Raw Materials, Tooling, components, & equipment. Supports the effort and makes sure that all employees are trained and comply with the Quality Management System as prescribed in the ISO 9001:2000 Standard. Is responsible for making sure Forklift Operators are qualified and competent to do their job. Consistently strives for high customer satisfaction while maintaining a safe, low cost working environment.
Responsibilities
- Shipping - Organize and prepare all outgoing shipments, including banding and wrapping pallets
- · Ensure all finished product is labeled correctly and processed accordingly within Amtech
- · Loading, unloading, storage and movement of materials through warehouse and production area
- · Performs data entry and maintenance of documentation supporting all shipping transactions
- · Receive incoming shipments; unload, visually inspect and stock
- · Complete Amtech receiving transaction
- · Professional and timely communication with customer service and sales team members on order overages and necessary shipping information
- · Prepare and maintain shipping supplies and keep department organized
- · Assist in other areas and with miscellaneous warehouse tasks as needed
- · Assist with shipping questions and training of West shipping department
- · Inventory - Complete weekly and monthly inventory counts
- · Overall responsibility for inventory accuracy at both South and West locations
- · Update inventory in Amtech, investigate any discrepancies and overall responsibility of inventory accuracy
- · Ensure inventory remains organized and all inventory has the appropriate load tag attached
- · Monitor and communicate to purchasing when inventory of any suppliers or raw material are below minimum on hand quantity requirements
- · Perform inventory and receipt adjustments for accuracy
- · Complete inventory transfers for all material transported between facilities
- · Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- · Proactively develop process improvements both internally and within Amtech
- · Manage inventory needs to ensure raw materials and finished goods are available to meet production and shipping needs at both locations
- · Oversee inventory processes and weekly counts at West facility
- · Assist and review to ensure counts are complete and accurate at all times
- · Drive the continuous improvement activities in areas of safety, quality, production efficiencies and innovation
- · Works with plant technicians to strive for maximum efficiencies in machine production, set up times and run speeds
- · Monitors machine run efficiencies and address issues preventing goal attainment
- · Engages plant technicians in activities to look for ways to streamline daily processes
- · Schedules vacations, and job assignments
- · Works with Maintenance Department staff to deliver predictable and reliable equipment performance
- · Proactively review operations, identify operational issues and confer with supporting departments to resolve production or processing problems
- · Consult with customer service and other departments regarding department machine capabilities and routing of new items
- · Reviews and takes corrective action on quality complaints
- · Provides input to the strategic and capital improvement planning process for area
- · Monitors and ensures that training and employee development of new, and existing employees is taking place for all area employees
- · Works with other managers to determine and then eliminate process roadblocks as well as communication issues that may arise between departments
- · Conduct team employee meetings to keep employees informed of pertinent business and divisional issues
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent, Bachelors Level of Degree preferred
· Equivalent work-related experience acceptable in lieu of degree
· At least 4+ years prior shipping or inventory experience in a manufacturing environment
· Computer skills
· Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment
· Strong organizational and communication skill
· Ability to multitask and work in a face paced environment with minimal errors
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
· Knowledge of planning, production, maintenance, and area operations methods and techniques, lean or process improvement, and other quality programs, as well as workplace safety
· Ability to clearly and effectively communicate departmental needs and goals up and down the organization; effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels
· Ability to analyze and interpret production data and take appropriate action to achieve metrics
· Ability to lead and build a cohesive team while creating a positive culture
· Ability to recognize needs and create employee training and development plans for areas of responsibility
· Experience interpreting labor contracts and resolving issues
· Strong problem solving, decision making and collaboration skills
