Water Treatment Specialist
Summary
Maintains and operates water treatment systems for a pharmaceutical contract manufacturer, handling chemical dosing, filtration, and sludge removal per SOPs.
Position Summary: The Water Treatment Specialist is responsible for treatment and service of all of the excess water that was used during manufacturing and to clean all of the equipment as stated in Swiss American CDMO Standard Operating Procedures and other duties assigned by the Sanitation Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the clearness of the water in each treatment tank.
- Visually verify that there are enough chemicals in the drums of Sodium Hydroxide 50%, TCS 590, and TCS 618. Replenish the chemicals as needed in the drums.
- Verify that the sludge in tank 2 is no higher and now lower than the mid-way point marker.
- Change filters in tank 3 when needed.
- Add 2 bags of Celaperl chemical into tank 4 when needed. Use marker on tank 4 for visual verification.
- Turn on the air pump. Pump into press plates when needed. Pump will slow down when no more can be pumped into the press.
- Close valves and turn on air to dry the treated excess water, blow down for a minimum of 45 minutes.
- After treated excess water is dried, open the plates and begin shoveling the hardened excess treated water into a waste disposal bag.
- Once all of the treated excess dried water has been removed from the plates and press, clean the press with a water hose. Align all plates back on the press in the proper order.
- Change the filters in the sump tank as needed.
- Inform Sanitation Manager/Supervisor/Team Leader when more supplies are needed, filters, disposal bags, and all chemicals.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the boiler/water treatment room and chiller room at all times.
- Water treatment specialists will perform cleaning activities in all areas when there is no water treatment task to complete.
